Built by Vitters Shipyard in the Netherlands, luxury yacht Mystère was launched in 2006. The refit has seen her shore converter replaced entirely with a 100 kVA hybrid-cooled Marpower unit. As the old system was air-cooled, this entails a reduction in weight, space, heat and noise, as well as an upgrade in power and capacity.

During the installation, it became obvious that this was also the right moment to upgrade the main switchboard and the decision was made to install the latest technology from DEIF systems. Piet Brouwer electrotechnology fitted two new DEIF genset controllers to allow full control of power management and generator protection.

The new system controls the starting and stopping of gensets, seamless transfer to shore power and paralleling of gensets. In case of high loads a second generator is started, and when the load is too high non-essential consumers are switched off. The new controllers also make it possible to monitor the systems via logging files and remote login options.
