Palumbo Superyachts takes over at Mondomarine Savona shipyard

Following the bankruptcy liquidation of Mondomarine at the end of 2017, Palumbo Superyachts has acquired the Mondomarine shipyard in Savona on an initial six-month lease. A new company called Savona Superyachts has been established to operate at the site with a focus on refits, while the remaining Mondomarine hulls have been moved to other yards for completion.

Palumbo Group has saved nine out of 57 jobs that were put at risk and there are talks with the local unions to save up to 45 jobs, absorbing them into Palumbo Group through continuing work at the Savona yard.

Mondomarine has produced many superyachts which are available for charter in the cruising grounds of the Mediterranean and Caribbean, including the 2017-launched 60m/198ft motor yacht SARASTAR, popular 43m/142ft luxury yacht BINA, which is an Approved RYA Water Sports Centre, and 50m/163ft superyacht ZALIV III which comes with an excellent variety of water toys.

49m/162ft motor yacht O’CEANOS and 42m/137ft BARENTS SEA are available in the Mediterranean throughout the year, as is 41m/133ft OKKO, which was a finalist at the World Superyacht Awards 2013 and the Showboats Design Awards 2013 for her Exterior design and styling and her naval architecture.
