Magnum Marine turns 45

Magnum Marine’s longstanding successful and “icon” activity continues without a break, not even for their 45th anniversary and the launch of two exceptional new models: the Magnum 51′ “Gold Label” yacht (with a special gold livery created for the occasion), and the all yellow Magnum 44′ “Banzai” motor yacht.

Two icons of Open-class luxury yachting: both large yachts feature increased below-decks headroom and are capable of stellar performances – 50 knots for the motor yacht Gold Label, 45 knots for the Banzai yacht. They combine safety and seaworthiness and are easily managed without  payed hands. Both are characterized by luxurious appointments and a very high level of custom design. The quality of Magnum Marine’s products has been confirmed over the years by a series of high-profile owners: the King of Spain, the King of Sweden, the Emir of Bahrein, the Prince of Qatar, the Shah of Persia, the Sultan of Brunei; the Onassis, Agnelli and Berlusconi families, the singer Lenny Kravitz, and many others.

To celebrate the event, Magnum Marine has prepared another surprise: the new Magnum Anniversary Book. It covers the splendid history of the brand from their beginning in the 1960’s with “guru” Don Aronow, to the latest models created since 1993 under Katrin Theodoli‘s leadership. And it’s thanks to the only true lady in the nautical industry that the yard is living a second youth and celebrating it’s 45th anniversary this year.

Lenny Kravitz, a satisfied Magnum 60′ owner, recently told us that “Katrin really loves her product, but most importantly she is used to dealing with clients who expect the highest possible quality. I’m very interested in design, and for me the crucial elements in a yacht are it’s style and architecture. Magnum Marine builds some of the best yachts both quality-wise and safety-wise; the Magnum 60′ can let me lose myself in the ocean, with the illusion of leaving the earthbound world behind. Speed is also a big consideration, due to my limited amount of time I have for leisure in my life. For example, I can go to Bimini (Bahamas Islands) for lunch and back in time to have a full day in the studio”.

Among the many acknowledgements from international institutions, foremost we have Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, president of the International Powerboat Union (UIM): “Magnum Marine gave direction to the pioneering phase of power boating history. In the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the yard’s founding, I can’t but compliment the yard’s management for their successes and that they have always been the iconic sport yacht over the years.”

Among the young set of “nouvelle vague” owners, Magnum 44′ owner Ivo Redaelli stands out: “Magnum Marine and Luiz de Basto have created a “brutally” elegant design. In a word, Magnum has standards that are impossible for other yards to recreate.”

Writer and journalist Dag Pike gives us his joyful take: “Magnum Marine is a legend where fast boats are concerned. Initially I thought that we were just dealing with another speedboat, but when Katrin invited me to take a 50′ for a drive a few years ago, it was a revelation. That drive opened my eyes to the world of high performance and high quality, so thanks to Katrin for having changed my perception of fast boats!”

And to continue a year of festivities for the yard, based on NE 188th in Miami, the legendary “Thunder-boat Row”, this summer a numerous group of owners from all over the Mediterranean will meet for Magnum’s 45th anniversary at the Magnum European Rendez – Vous in Ischia Island (3-5 of June). The event received the prestigious patronage of the UIM, the International Powerboating Federation, thanks to the several world successes of Magnum Marine to what it represented in the history of Powerboating.
