Dutch superyacht builder AMELS has sold two luxury motor yachts from the LIMITED EDITIONS range, both of them orders for the Tim Heywood-designed AMELS 177 motor yacht. These two latest sales further cement AMELS’ leadership in the premium semi-custom segment of the luxury yacht industry.

Introduced in 2005, from the very beginning the company’s LIMITED EDITIONS superyacht concept struck a chord with superyacht owners’ demands for quality and value, as managing director Rob Luijendijk explains: “Already the LIMITED EDITIONS philosophy was doing very well, but in these past three years of global economic downturn, it makes more sense than ever. In such challenging times, the modern superyacht owner is looking for a yacht that will bring him great satisfaction and enjoyment, but which will also give him a good return on investment in the years to come.”

The sales of the two AMELS 177 motor yachts came off the back of a very successful Monaco Yacht Show for the Vlissingen-based yard, already operating at 100% capacity. “Monaco was very good for us this year,” said Luijendijk. “We were pleased to note that there is a very positive ‘vibe’ around our brand. Our yard team is young and innovative, which is reflected in every detail of the yachts that we deliver, and the very good relationships that we enjoy with our new clients and repeat clients. The high level of customisation we offer – in combination with the advantages of exceptionally high quality and short delivery times – have been the driving elements behind our recent sales.”

Both new AMELS 177s are to have their interiors styled by Laura Sessa from Italy, although she has been commissioned to produce very distinct and individual styles for each yacht.

The sales of these latest AMELS 177 superyachts – both of which were made in cooperation with Moran Yacht & Ship – conclude a busy and productive year for the yard, with an AMELS 171 Motor yahct Bel Abri, and AMELS 177 Superyacht Unity (exAddiction2) delivered on time and on budget earlier in the spring.

Currently there are twelve projects under way, and the next delivery will be the first LINITED EDITIONS AMELS 212, a design collaboration by Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch. The keel has been laid for Hull No.1 of the AMELS 199, and not far over the horizon is the launch of the AMELS 242, the largest yet conceived in the LIMITED EDITIONS range.

The healthy order book of luxury yachts is further supplemented by the innovative Damen-built SEA AXE Fast Yacht Support range. Two 50-metre models have been delivered, in addition to a 67-metre sold earlier this year. And now a smaller version, the 37-metre SEA AXE, has also been introduced.

AMELS is the exclusive yacht-building member of the Dutch DAMEN Shipyards Group, the largest shipyard in the Netherlands, consisting of more than 34 shipyards and marine-related companies  throughout the world. DAMEN, a family owned company, employs over 6,700 people, delivered 150 vessels in 2009 and has an annual turnover of approximately €1.4 billion.
