China has initiated marine economy development strategy, in which Guangdong Province plans to set aside 1 trillion Yuan to develop marine economy. As a component of marine and leisure economy, yacht economy has received much attention from the Chinese government and the industry. In all, 17 provincial and municipal governments in the country put forward to develop it and Guangdong Province also clearly sets its goal to construct a powerful province of yachts and tourism.

With a coastline of more than 18000km, China has over 6500 islands and 24800 lakes. Apart from being adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau, Guangdong’s coastline is the longest among all the provinces and numerous rivers are running through it. As for the host city of the expo, Guangzhou has seven rivers flowing through it and directly running into the South China Sea and its water area equals more than 10 times land area, which is quite unique among all cities around the world.

China has developed into the world’s second largest economy as well as luxury consumer and GDP per capita has exceeded 8000 U.S. dollars in Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Bohai coastal region. It is expected that the huge consumption potential will bring up business opportunities worth billions of Yuan in the years to come. As China’s major province of economy and a big gathering place of the rich men, Guangdong will witness explosive yacht demand growth.
