April 28 brought very difficult weather conditions for sailors competing in the 2012 Yachting World Round Antigua Race. Due to strong winds, there were several retirements, including Allyn Salomon's Beneteau Oceanis 473 sailing yacht Hermosita as well as South African Jan Rupert entry, Tripp 75 Blackbird yacht. The prominent UK-based shipyard Pendennis removed the Ron Holland designed sailing yacht M5 (ex Mirabella 5)´s main mast in advance of her 13 month refit.
