Built by Cosmo Explorer to a design by Cristiano Gatto, the all-new 50m explorer yacht I-Nova is a beautiful Ice Class vessel, combining aesthetics and seaworthiness. Luxury motor yacht I-Nova boasts a strong identity, thanks to her spacial as well as functional solutions.

The tiered profile of I-Nova yacht presents clearly defining features but no element stands out in sharp relief. Harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality was pivotal to Cristiano Gatto’s vision, and I-Nova with her outstandingly simplicity, exemplifies this concepts. A close look helps appreciate the great care dedicated to the exterior design where all details have been meticulously designed and, at night, a cleverly designed lighting system brings them out.

With her robust steel hull and light aluminium superstructure, superyacht I-Nova has an overall length of 50m and a large beam of 9.50m accommodating 12 guests, 12 crew and all of the owner’s requirements whilst maintaining elegant yet powerful lines. Reputed companies and institutes such as Marine Hollande Institute, Vripack Naval Architects, Van Oossanen Naval Architects, Scan Vibra cooperated to finalize the project and bring it to completion.

The hull has been reinforced in the bow section with extra thick steel plates and propeller shafts, propellers, sea chests, rudders and steering gear systems, as well as the sea water cooling system, were designed to meet the ABS’s requirements for the D0 Ice Class notation.

Powered by twin MTU 16V2000M70 (1050hp at 2100rpm), luxury yacht I-Nova can reach a top speed of 15.6 knots and at a cruising speed of 12 knots has a range of 5500 nautical miles.

It is worth putting I-Nova yacht into context to understand and appreciate her fully. The project stems for an experienced owner who asked the Italian designer Cristiano Gatto to translate into reality his own ideas of what a big yacht should be. Cristiano Gatto and his team accomplished their task effectively by incorporating an approach combining novelty and strength both in I-Nova’s exterior and interior design. The yacht’s thoughtful construction brought to completion on schedule by Cosmo Explorer, is impressive, with no detail overlooked.

The overall feeling is that of a seaworthy yacht and indeed I-Nova superyacht is a reliable and comfortable yacht. Despite her five decks, a low centre of gravity obtained thanks to a wise distribution of weights, and a fine entry of the water line grant smooth motion and great stability.

Five decks, plus a tank deck, display a functional layout offering a lot of privacy to the Owner whose private apartment benefits of a large cabin on the Main Deck forward and a panoramic saloon right above on the Upper Deck, accessed through a dedicated staircase. One of the yacht’s peculiar feature is the elongated Upper Deck hosting two tenders and a full array of water toys.

Great attention has been dedicated to interior decoration in order to provide the Owner and his guests with a relaxing yet sophisticated environment. Stepping inside one is immediately struck by the overall feel of space, comfort and quality. Most furniture have been designed by Cristiano Gatto Design Team who, despite using a large selection of different materials, was able to compose a cohesive, refreshing interior decoration: precious veneers such as the Kauri wood, teak, both weathered and limed, wengè, were used for flooring and furniture, whilst bamboo and rope in a square pattern add a graphic touch to ceilings. Striking photographs on the walls evoke far countries and adventurous journeys whilst design floor lamps add drama to well- lighted environments.

Outside living is high on I-Nova yacht’s list of priorities and her deck spaces, teak clad throughout, are tailored to meet such need.

Lower Deck
Good space planning is indeed a feature throughout the yacht and the Lower deck’s layout shows it clearly. Four comfortable guest cabins, two doubles and two twins, are grouped on the Lower deck nearly amidship. The night quarter’s decoration recalls both theme and style of the social areas with plenty of teak and luxury fabrics. A thick, sound proof bulkhead and two bathrooms insulate the double cabins from the noise produced in the nearby engine room.

Abaft the engine room there are two crew cabins for 4 crew members followed by a multifunctional area where all scuba diving equipments are stored. This teak clad room is indeed a large indoor beach club providing a cozy lounging area where to relax after an invigorating swim or a healthy sweat in the adjoining sauna.

The forward section of the Lower Deck deck houses the main crew quarters featuring a large dinette and three cabins with bunk beds. A staircase connects the crew area to the Tank Deck where spacious cold and dry rooms hold all the provisions required for a yacht which is meant to sail the seven seas reaching remote and secluded areas. In the Tank Deck is located also a large laundry/ironing room.

Main Deck
In the cockpit a sinuous sofa and oval table with armchairs provide a comfortable lounging and dining area in direct contact with the main saloon. As you enter from the cockpit, on the left, is located a bar area with a solid Kauri wood counter. The same precious wood arriving from a “wood mine” in New Zealand has been used for the spectacular dining table by Riva 1920 which can accommodate up to twelve people. The main saloon has a wide open plan layout. A comfortable lounging area boasts lush custom made couches clad in light beige Loro Piana fabrics and two sofas in natural leather by Baxter. In the main saloon and throughout the yacht colours were chosen in discreet hues, not flashy, and the excellent quality of craftsmanships of all furniture resulted in an exquisitely sophisticated finish.

Weathered teak floor, limed teak bulkheads and furniture with dark brown wengè frames compose a modern, muffled atmosphere with an ethnic flavour. Worth a mention the hand-wrought copper panels decorating the athwartship bulkhead in the dining area echoing the surface of an ancient japanese shield.

The central section of the Main deck is devoted to circulation and service areas with separated guest and crew staircases, and a large pantry and galley on the port side. Forward the main lobby is located the Owner suite accessed through a private lobby. The Owner suite is one of the distinctive feature of I-Nova superyacht’s interiors.

The full beam, soberly decorated cabin, opens into a large bathroom and adjoining dressing rooms. Loro Piana fabrics and bedspread, custom made bed head and an odd Poliform Wallace chair in dark brown leather underline the sober, masculine decoration. A private staircase connects the Owner suite to a saloon/study on the Upper Deck, a panoramic hideaway with great views towards the bow.

Upper Deck
The Upper Deck features a huge area aft hosting I-Nova’s water toys and big tenders: a Fabio Buzzi 34 Semi enclosed rib tender and a Scorpion 8.5 ST rib tender are hauled by a 5 tons crane with a 9-metre outreach. This area, due to its generous dimensions, can turn into a perfect setting for a crowded party.

Besides the private Owner saloon in the Upper Deck’s forward section, the yacht’s social areas include a cozy upper saloon with symmetric sofas and coffee tables, that can be used also as a TV room. A large TV screen is hidden in the forward bulkhead behind white sliding panels; an ancient venetian technique using alabaster plaster, glue and pigment is used to give these panels a course and uneven surface.

Cristiano Gatto, with his longstanding experience as an artist as well as a yacht designer, draws inspiration from traditional techniques to create and select contemporary artworks and decorative items thanks to the contribution of a small number of skilled artists and suppliers.

Forward the Upper Deck is a bright and comfortable Vip cabin at port with ensuite bathroom.

Bridge Deck

Above the Upper Deck is a rather small Bridge Deck housing a well equipped wheelhouse and two cabins, one for the yacht’s Captain and the other for the Engineer. The panoramic position of the helm station allows a perfect visibility further enhanced by the reversed windows which eliminate all glares from the dashboard.

A large terrace astern with twin tables and sun beds is the right spot to have breakfast or to dine under the stars. The outdoor loose furniture on this deck, sunbeds and armchairs, belong to Roda’s Mistral and Network collection in natural teak.

Observation Deck
Maybe the most privileged place on board to admire the surrounding landscape and enjoy life en plein air is the Observation Deck where a partially shaded area hosts an equipped gym facing a large sunbathing area crowned by a round spa pool.
