Sailing yacht ITHAKA – the latest Jongert 2700M superyacht at the Monaco Yacht Show

August 09, 2012

Luxury sailing yacht ITHAKA, the youngest Jongert sailing yacht currently for sale and the fifth model of Jongert’s successful semi-custom line 2700M, will be presented throughout the Monaco Yacht Show 2012.  The ITHAKA sailing yacht was launched in 2007, measures 26,70m (87,6 ft) in length and provides plenty of space and volume for a luxurious interior layout, while still providing great sailing performance.

In comparison to her forerunners, the fifth of the highly successful Jongert 27000M semi-custom design series, yacht ITHAKA features some new and very interesting details. Doug Peterson was responsible for the lines plan and redesigned the whole aft deck and the two outside steering positions to offer a lot more open space for open-air dining and sunbathing in the cockpit. The performance of the yacht was also further improved by a new keel and rudder design.

S/Y ITHAKA has a carbon mast and her sail handling is easy even with small crew thanks to a well thought-out deck layout including captive winches, a full set of NORTH SAIL3DL sails and the 3.05m wing keel.

The general layout of the ITHAKA superyacht was kept similar to the one of the already existing Jongert 2700M’s, although the interior was given a more modern pear wood design to create a light atmosphere. The yacht ITHAKA is able to accommodate up to 6 guests and 3 crew in 3 guest cabins and 2 crew cabins. This Jongert sailing yacht was designed as much for racing as it is for comfortable cruising and would make a great charter yacht.

The Dutch flagged ITHAKA demonstrated superior performance at the Club Yachting Life Regatta 2012 around Menorca this June where she came in second in her class after a close neck-to-neck race.

Hessen 44m motor yacht Zentric sold

November 18, 2011

Heesen Yachts is pleased to announce the sale of the 44m motor yacht Project Zentric, which is due to be delivered in 2012. YN 15944 super yacht Zentric is the eighth in the successful 44 metre all-aluminium class series, with the first vessel being the motor yacht Sister Act (ex Sedation, New Century) launched in 2007.

Hessen super yacht YN 15944 is the third contract signed in 2011 and in such an economic climate this demonstrates that there will always be a market for superb quality and technical excellence, both qualities that this Dutch superyacht builder excels in. And by acquiring a yacht already under construction, there is no extended lead-time. In fact Heesen currently has 12 yachts in commission (four on speculation) with a total length of 584 metres, with deliveries up to 2015.

Project Zentric yacht’s twin MTU 2.720kW engines combine with unmatched experience in weight reduction and the ultra-efficient Heesen hull to ensure that an increase in space never means a decrease in speed. Project Zentric reaches the remarkable speed of 25 knots and is the fastest 44 metre yacht of her style on the market. Building in aluminium to enormously demanding tolerances, the Heesen hull-form is unique – quite simply no other yacht’s shape so optimises the way a yacht moves through water. Meticulous attention to weight reduction results in increased levels of luxury.

Using the experience gained from the previous 44 metre aluminium yachts, Heesen has designed the luxury Zentric yacht project to fully maximise the amount of deck space available. Guests will mostly enjoy life at sea on the 45 square metre sun deck. The main aft deck and upper aft deck are the perfect location for alfresco dining or just lounging in the shade, while the seating area on the fore deck is ideal for enjoying the breeze when at anchor or for privacy when docked stern-to in harbour.

Frank Laupman from Omega Architects designed the sleek exterior lines and the timelessly elegant interior where pale woods and precious fabrics emphasise light and space. The guest areas are elegant and clutter-free thanks to the sleek, classic deco design.

The open-plan main saloon is split into three distinct areas: in addition to the main sofas and dining area, there is an intimate semicircular seating area adjacent to the huge, curved sliding glass doors that lead to the aft deck.

The sky lounge has been designed to provide several different entertaining and relaxation spaces. Deep sofas line both sides of the room, while to aft a circular arrangement of stools and table creates a laid-back atmosphere.

44m Heesen motor yacht Zentric accommodates 10 guests  in five cabins. The full-beam master suite is situated on the main deck and includes a study and full-beam his and hers marble bathroom. Two double and two twin cabins, all with en-suite marble bathrooms, are located on the lower deck.

52nd Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show´s results

November 14, 2011

At the 52nd annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), three million square feet of exhibits in-water and on land were available for optimistic exhibitors and motivated buyers. Despite the weather was not that good over the weekend, the show was reported to be the best exhibition in 5 years.

“Overall we are very pleased with how this year’s show turned out,” said Efrem Zimbalist III, CEO of Show Management, the company that produces the show. “There was a strong presence of serious buyers and our exhibitors were ready with great new product and realistic pricing.”

As retail sales begin an upturn, experienced yachtsmen and those looking to enter the market with the purchase of their first yacht cautiously resurfaced as eager and more educated consumers.

“Crowds lined the aisles of the Superyacht Builders and Designers Tent,” said Catalina Bujor, PR/marketing officer with Dockwise Yacht Transport. “We had consistent traffic coming in for quotes and inquiries and we came away from the show with several bookings and valuable leads from all over the world.”

Said Andrew Cohen with YACHTSIGN®, “We met with owners, captains, builders, marina operators and world-class designers who insist upon buying the highest-quality products, one of the many reasons they come to FLIBS.”

This year’s show focused on engaging attendees as well as exhibitors with easy-to-navigate show sites at this best-of boating lifestyle event. Enhancements to the show including the new smartphone app named MyBoatShow, Trawler Port, the SYBAss Pavilion and Captain’s Den all contributed to a well-executed and heavily attended event.

Sean Blue, AVP and director of yachts with Chartis, a global property and casualty insurance provider whose display was among the superyacht builders in the new SYBAss Pavilion, concurred with the positive feedback, adding, “Despite the weather at the show, traffic was good and chatter on the docks was definitely up in terms of buyers in the crowd. This seemed to be across various segments in the industry and yachts of all values. What also seemed to be occurring was a greater collaboration between various businesses to add value to each other’s services and to sell the yachting lifestyle and build a stronger industry.”

Attendees took to the docks at the Bahia Mar, Hall of Fame, Hilton, Sails and Las Olas Marinas rain or shine with many sales reported and offers made.

“I can’t recall a moment during the Show that the Beneteau G.T. booth wasn’t buzzing with buyers examining the new Beneteau Power line-up,” said Bob Denison, co-owner of Dension Yacht Sales, the exclusive Beneteau Power dealer in South Florida. “TrawlerPort benefitted from a steady stream of trawler buyers. The 52 Swift Trawler attracted trawler enthusiasts from all over the world.”

The Broward Convention Center, an extremely popular show location during the wetter moments of the show, also reported quality activity.

“We saw big crowds, especially for the rainy days that we had on the weekend,” said Jim Zimmerman, general manager of Jerry’s Marine Service. “We saw a lot of interest from customers wanting to repower their existing yachts. Owners who are not ready to spend for a new yacht just yet are going to re-power their existing yachts.”

Also heavily attended were the 45 free fishing, diving and boating safety seminars, some with standing room only.

Across six locations more than 1000 yachts were on display in the water and on land, in addition to every type of fishing product imaginable, marine electronics, safety equipment and boating accessories. Also on display were exotic cars, a submarine and a helicopter.
