The yacht under 500 GRT is designed to be built as a semi-displacement aluminium hull with 31 plus knots speed or a full-displacement hull in steel and aluminium superstructure with a lower speed but both with transatlantic range at cruising speed.

The powerful bullet shaped bow defined by natural sheer lines will carve through the waves and provide reserve buoyancy for a smooth ride under all conditions. This three-deck design provides a spacious interior and generous semi-sheltered deck space for leisure and entertainment.

KINDER DESIGN 110 EXPLORER

By the well known German design studio of JOACHIM KINDER, Icon Yachts is very proud to present a totally unique 360ft (110 Meter) Explorer Yacht that is on the opposite scale of size and application. This vast concept offers  unique styling and design elements, that are inviting the client to truly customize the yacht to their specific requirements.  This Mega Yacht will be one to watch out for and will feature the option for two special 65ft (20 Meter) ‘custom-built’ fast luxury tenders with the same styling elements as the mother ship. These tenders are located in mid ship garages and will be loaded/off-loaded by side shell doors and can be conveniently accessed right from the luxury glass elevator.

Joachim Kinder, CEO of Kinder Design explains: “The design is well proportioned with a logical configuration and inboard logistic. All decks are easily accessible by elevators, separated for crew- and guest-/owner’s-areas. The internal central stairwell is partially a part of the aft superstructure and it is generously illuminated by natural daylight. The aft superstructure ends with a strong construed arches. Three cantilever balconies are added on the rear of these flanks create a light weight character. As well as the unusual semi circular balconies of comfortable size are situated of the main guest VIP cabins on the upper deck.   The ultra-modern well-proven ‘axe-bow’, combined with the stainless-steel shield, makes the vessel unique and gives it an all-over solid and robust appearance.  Altogether this Mega Yacht combines elegant yacht features with practical and seaworthy elements.”

ICON  Refit – 244 Meter of Quality and Service

ICON Yachts has a large array of on-site facilities available, assuring to be a perfect partner for all refit projects. Refits evolve around our central dry dock, measuring an impressive 480 x 160 x 33ft (150 x 50 x 10 meters) and a passage height of 90ft (28 meters) above Datum. With our 9900Lbs (4500 ton) Syncrolift and a set of in-house paint and blasting facilities, we offer a complete package of possibilities for every project, whether big or small.

305ft (93 meter) Superyacht ‘EOS’

Appreciating the extent and suitability of our shipyard facilities, Royal Huisman Shipyard have leased dry-dock space from ICON to perform an extensive refit aboard the 305ft (93 meter) Superyacht ‘EOS’. Built in 2006 by German shipyard Lürssen, Royal Huisman, utilizing their Huisfit program are treating this magnificent three-master to a ‘cosmetic facelift’ to include an all-new paint job for the hull, superstructure and spars with suppliers Mast Jachtschilders. Additionally Huisfit reports that her teak decks will be updated and all deck equipment and Rondal masts will be thoroughly overhauled. Huisfit will also service on board mechanics, air conditioning and systems (including a 5 year Lloyds recertification) to provide EOS with many years of reliable ongoing cruising. At ICON we are proud to have such a glorious vessel at our location.

158ft (48 meter) superyacht ‘Rahil’

The 158ft (48 meter) motor yacht ‘Rahil’ built by BVB in 2005, with interiors and exteriors designed by Reymond Langton Design Ltd is currently undergoing refit and modification works at ICON Yachts. Her engine room is receiving general maintenance and all audio-visual, navigational and communication systems will be updated to the latest technology by Radio Holland.

With this, some areas of the interior will be thoroughly upgraded, including the replacement of her dining table. These adjustments to the interior have been designed by SINOT Design Team and implemented by Bootwerk Yacht Interiors.

The client has chosen to carry out the refit at this time in order for ICON Yachts to start preparations and pre-engineering for a 3 meter extension of the stern and bathing platform, which is scheduled to be carried out in the upcoming winter season.  Prefabrication of the necessary sections and systems will allow for a much compressed down time in the shipyard.  In this period the 5 year Lloyds survey will be completed.

Upon completion of the works, Rahil is scheduled to sail to the Med for enjoyment by the clients with and a busy season ahead.

135ft (42 meter) Heesen-built superyacht ‘Seven Sins’

Starting in April, the 135ft (42 meter) Heesen-built superyacht ‘Seven Sins’ is scheduled to undergo an extensive refit at ICON Yachts.  All interior and exterior styling has been designed by Omega Architects.  ‘Seven Sins’ will be receiving a full hull paint job by Bonsink Jachtschilders, as well as a new MOB crane. Planned to leave our shipyard in June, her refit will be completed with full maintenance of her bathing platform and generators.

88 metre yacht Fountainhead launched by Feadship

In what is a busy 2011 year for yacht orders and launches by the Dutch luxury yacht building company Feadship, there has been another large superyacht launched called motor yacht ‘Fountainhead’. Yacht Fountainhead is the largest private yacht Feadship has ever built, along with another 88 m XL called Musashi.

Superyacht FOUNTAINHEAD was launched today by the Feadship Koninklijke De Vries shipyard in Makkum, the Netherlands. M/Y Fountainhead is the third boat of the Feadship XL series, the first being yacht Ocean Victory and the second called yacht Musashi. All three Feadship XL superyachts have been launched at the De Vries Makkum facility – Ocean Victory, in October 2008 and Musashi in August 2010.

Motor Yacht ‘Fountainhead’ is 87.78 m (287.99 ft) in length and she has a full displacement steel hull. The uxury yacht is topped with an aluminium superstructure. Previously known as Feadship Hull XL 1003 Fountainhead is powered by four 3,650hp (or 2,721 kw) MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines which produce a total power potential of 14,600 hp, or 10,887 kilowatts.

The Feadship Fountainhead yacht was designed (naval architecture and her exterior design) by Feadship’s De Voogt Naval Architects. As with other Feadship XLs, Sinot Yacht Design was utilised for the interior design.

Feadship currently also has two larger yachts ‘in build’, one being over 100 m – a 101.5 metre boat that Royal Van Lent shipyard also has been reported to have a contract to build – and a 99 metre yacht known as XL 1004.

Now having been launched, superyacht Fountainhead will undergo further finishing and outfitting before being delivered to her new owner later in 2011.

The Name ‘Fountainhead’

The Fountainhead is also known as a famous novel which was written by Ayn Rand in 1943. In the book The Fountainhead Howard Roark, the main protagonist, is an individualistic young architect who chooses to struggle in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic and personal vision. The book describes his battle to practice his idea of what is superior architecture when the general public view is as overly modernistic architecture in an establishment focused on convention.

The third Feadship XL superyacht Fountainhead has been reported launched by the prestigious Dutch shipyard, this morning. Motor Yacht Fountainhead is a 87.87 metre (288’29”) long vessel designed by De Voogt Naval Architects, whereas her interior design was created by Sinot Yacht Design.

Motor Yacht Fountainhead is run by four MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines at 3,650 HP (2,722 KW) each. She has a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure.

Feadship Yachts is world renowned luxury yacht building company, known for a fine pedigree of good design and high quality of construction techniques. Their first  XL series mega yacht Ocean Victory was launched in 2008 by the Feadship Koninklijke De Vries Makkum shipyard. Their second XL, the superyacht Musashi, was on the other hand launched in August 2010.

Both vessels, Musashi and the newly launched Fountainhead Yacht, are the largest yachts ever built by Feadship, to date. This however, is soon to be changed, as there are two larger yachts currently under construction at this respected shipyard. One of them is the 99-metre XL 1004 Yacht and the second being a 101.50 metre superyacht by Royal Van Lent.

Frers 88 sailing yacht Tulip by German Frers and K&M Yachtbuilders

The Dutch yard K&M Yachtbuilders were chosen to build a 26.83m sloop called Tulip designed by German Frers with a Sinot Yacht Designed interior. Sailing yacht Tulip is scheduled to be delivered in Spring 2012.

The Dutch owner, together with K&M and German Frers Naval Architecture has designed a yacht with a classic hull form above the waterline, but with modern features under the waterline, such as a flat underwater hull and a raising keel. The ship will be light and fast enough to take part in regattas.

The owner is planning to take this superb yacht sailing Tulip to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean during the next few years. The size and the separate crew area also make S/y Tulip ideal for use as a charter yacht.

There is room on board the Frers 88 claasic sloop Tulip for six guests and two crew members. The wheelhouse will be the central living space on board, with a dining table, card table, TV, library and refrigerator in the same space. All four cabins have their own wet cell in order to give the owner and guests all the privacy and comfort they need. The cockpit is spacious and teak lined, as is the rest of the deck.

This is the first time that K&M Yachtbuilders has built a German Frers design. They are very much enjoying working with this well-known and respected designer from Argentina. Sinot Yacht Design in Eemnes will be providing a stylish, modern and luxurious interior design. Natural colours such as brown, beige, cream and grey will alternate with the intense dark orange that frequently recurs in the detailing.
