Super-Fast 42m MY CONTINUUM Concept by Andrew Trujillo Design and Adam Younger

February 12, 2016

Written by Zuzana Bednarova

Following the highly innovative 45m catamaran EQUINOX, featured on CharterWorld in March 2014, the super-fast 42m MY CONTINUUM concept represents another great result of a creative collaboration between Andrew Trujillo Design and Adam Younger. The aim of this yacht concept was to take on a relatively conventional layout, clothe it with a contemporary and dynamic design plus design a very quick vessel.

MY CONTINUUM Concept by Andrew Trujillo Design and Adam Younger

MY CONTINUUM Concept by Andrew Trujillo Design and Adam Younger

In fact, MY CONTINUUM has been designed to achieve thrilling speeds in excess of 50 knots, thanks to her triple water jets driven by three MTU 16 Cylinder diesels. Moreover, the hull form is based on a balanced and efficient dynamic platform to offer a great combination of speed and handling.

MY CONTINUUM - aft view

MY CONTINUUM – aft view

MY CONTINUUM has a deep bow with fluted spray rails, resulting in a good sea keeping and handling in various conditions. Furthermore, she features long and gentle waterlines to give good acceleration and overall efficiency. The hull has two transverse tapered steps, mixed up with multiple spray rails. The geometry of these being key to getting hydrodynamic performance combined with dynamic stability. This feature has also been configured to work with jet drives and actually improve the efficiency of the units.

MY CONTINUUM - side view

Accommodation layout consists of a generous master cabin, positioned on the main deck in the bow, providing fantastic views of the surroundings, as well as all the luxuries of a Superyacht. The main deck also hosts a main salon area, which can feature a formal dining area and lounge. Guest accommodation can be found on the lower deck, including two or three guest cabins.

MY CONTINUUM at full speed

MY CONTINUUM at full speed

Externally, MY CONTINUUM offers an amazingly huge sundeck, located above the main deck. The sun deck can host a complete bimini, but the design has deliberately sought to leave the deck open to the elements. Andrew commented: “It seems that so many yachts have deck upon deck, making them look a little top heavy in my mind. I sought to return to the original principle of a fast motor yacht, I wanted to make a dynamic and her lines emphasize her length and add a sense of speed and adventure to it.”

Some interesting and innovative features include the aft mounted communication/radar masts, providing visual balance to the wedge shape, as well as the completely enclosed anchor pocket, allowing the hull to retain the clean lines, not only for aesthetic, but also for good hydrodynamic reasons.

A huge success of Marina d’Arechi at two major yacht shows in Europe

February 10, 2016

Written by Zuzana Bednarova

It has been a huge success for Marina d’Arechi at two major yacht shows in Europe: the London Boat Show, which ran from January 8 to 17, as well as the Dusseldorf Boat Show, which was held from January 23 to 31, 2015. During the events, the marina presented the all-new facilities offered by the Salerno Village Port, nestled on the southern coast of Italy.

Marina d'Arechi in Italy

Marina d’Arechi in Italy

Thanks to the new MAXI YACHTS jetty, inaugurated last April, and to the completion of all the piers, the new Amalfi Coast getaway can now accommodate around 1,000 boats, 40 of which measuring from 40 up to 120m in length.

The marina annually attracts owners of both motor and sailing yachts of any length, particularly those from 15 meters upwards. The strategic location of the marina, not only close to the Amalfi Coast and Cilento, but also to the Aeolian Islands and Sicily, is undoubtedly one of its most significant points of strength, in addition to the sunny and warm weather during most of the year and the typical Mediterranean diet cuisine.

According to Agostino Gallozzi, chairman of the marina: “Three are the most appealing peculiarities that visitors appreciate : the unique and glamour geographical location, the quality and safety of the infrastructure, the tailor made friendly services. Marina d’Arechi, in the Gulf of Salerno, represents the ideal hub of access to worldwide renown locations, such as Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri, Pompeii, Paestum. The Amalfi Coast is one of 50 Italian sites inserted on the UNESCO World Heritage List.”
