World Superyacht Award 2013 for McConaghy Yacht ADASTRA

The breath-taking composite yacht Adastra was awarded a judges commendation for Most Innovative Design at the 2013 World Superyacht Awards, held in Istanbul last weekend. Luxury superyacht Adastra was constructed by McConaghy Boats in China.

McConaghy luxury yacht ADASTRA nominated as finalist for World Superyacht Awards 2013

The breath-taking tri hulled luxury yacht Adastra was launched by McConaghy Boats in April 2012. Shortly after launching as well as commissioning, superyacht Adastra left Hong Kong for extended cruising throughout Southeast Asia, where her owners have been enjoying some of the best cruising the fabulous yacht charter destination – Asia has to offer.

Recently, Boat International have announced that trimaran yacht Adastra has been nominated as a finalist for the World Superyacht awards to be held in Istanbul on 4th May this year. Now in its eighth year, the World Superyacht Awards is considered the “Oscars” of the Superyacht world.

To be a finalist for this award is indeed a great honour, and congratulations must go to the owners of Adastra yacht for having the vision and conviction to embark on such a project. The Naval Architects John and Orion Shuttleworth, Interior designer Jepsen Design, and of course the team of craftsmen from McConaghy Boats Zhuhai China bought this vision to reality.

The breathtaking superyacht Adastra has been nominated as a finalist for the eagerly awaited World Superyacht Awards 2013. Constructed by McConaghy Boats, the 42-metre yacht Adastra is a beautiful trimaran, designed by John Shuttleworth.

The eighth annual World Superyacht Awards will take place on 4 May, 2013 in the magical city of Istanbul, Turkey at the luxurious Çırağan Palace Kempinski.

Combining a glittering awards ceremony with a gala dinner and dance, the Awards – dubbed the “Oscars” of the superyacht world – will be attended by an elite guest list of superyacht owners from around the globe and the most influential players in the superyacht industry.

The prize giving ceremony once again coincides with the 23rd edition of The Rendezvous in Monaco, a unique four-day event for superyacht owners on the Côte d’Azur, with many of the newly-delivered finalist yachts to be berthed in Port Hercule to join in the yachting festivities.

Having received plenty of nominations, Boat International Media’s expert teams of editors have selected the nominees and revealed an outstanding list of World Superyacht Awards finalists, who now stand in contention to be honoured with a prestigious Neptune trophy.

In the remaining weeks before the Judges’ Meeting, which will take place at the YCCS Virgin Gorda Clubhouse on the first day of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous, the Jury will be making personal visits to the finalist yachts to ensure that each contending vessel is inspected by at least one judge.

In addition to the judges’ testimonies, comprehensive dossiers, including photographs and statements from the owners, builders and designers of each of the finalists, will guide the jury in their difficult task of selecting the winners. The results of their deliberations will remain secret until the gala evening and prize giving on 4 May at the Çırağan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul, a former Ottoman palace bordering the Bosphorus waterway.

John Shuttleworth, who designed the Adastra, told editors that the 42.5-meter yacht “takes the power trimaran concept further than has ever been attempted before.”

Showcasing naval architecture by Setzer Design group, NISI 2400 yacht is absolutely iconic in yachting circles. She has been honored with the International Superyacht Society Design Award, “Best Design” 2011 World Yachts Trophy, and named Robb Report ‘Best of the Best’ winner in the annual ‘wings and water’ category. At 24-meters, she is also the only yacht in the world under 100 feet built to RINA Charter Class with MCA Commercial standards.

The bright and accessible stand featured an impressive collection of fine linens and accessories which saw the Heirlooms staff offering advice to both new and existing customers.

General Manager Ruth Douglas commented: “after 10 years at MYS, Heirlooms has demonstrated that we are firmly embedded as one of the top suppliers and manufacturers to the Superyacht community. We are committed to providing the very best in products and service to the industry”.

“Since Monaco we have had enquiries from more than 20 new build projects as well as current clients, who visited the stand to replenish their linen stock,” further commented Ruth.

To reinforce the company’s position as a leading British manufacturer and supplier of linen, Ruth Douglas was interviewed by the BBC on the Heirlooms stand during the show. This was subsequently aired on BBC South together with a number of other British Marine Companies after Monaco.
