September 16, 2011

The acclaimed Italian Perini Navi Group announce their international appointments for the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show and Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. The group is commencing the boat shows season at the Monaco Yacht Show, held from 21st to 24th September, with the world premier of their stunning sailing yacht FIDELIS. Superyacht Fidelis is a 56 metre ketch and the tenth yacht in the 56 metre series, as well as the 51st yacht in the Group’s Fleet. Another beautiful yacht presented by the Perini Navi Group at the Monaco Yacht Show will be the 55m motor yacht GALILEO G, the second motor yacht of the Vitruvius® Series built by their Picchiotti brand.

Their second date will be for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, one of the international appointments most eagerly anticipated by yachtsmen, held this year from October 27th to 31st. Here the Perini Navi Group will be presenting Sailing Yacht P2, a 38m sloop from their Racing Line, and Sailing Yacht Antara, a 46m ketch.

In the year 2011 two contracts for a total value of over 70 million Euro have been signed, one for a sloop and one for a ketch from their new line of 60 metre yachts.

Currently the Group has eight yachts between motor and sail in production, one 55m Motor Yacht (to be consigned in 2011); one 45m Sailing yacht (to be consigned in 2011); one 50m SY (to be consigned in 2012); one 40m SY (to be consigned in 2012); one 38m SY from the racing line (to be consigned in 2013); one 73m MY (to be consigned in 2013); one 60m ketch (to be consigned in 2013); one 60m sloop (to be consigned in 2014); another 60m ketch (to be consigned in 2014). In the course of the year 2011, superyacht Fidelis – the tenth yacht in the series of 56m yachts – was consigned in June. That event was followed by the consignment of the 55m MY Galileo G, the second Vitruvius® series yacht built by the Picchiotti brand. By the end of the summer the Group will have consigned a 45m sailing yacht, the fourth yacht in that series.

Description of the yachts presented at the Monaco Yacht Show and Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Sailing Yacht Fidelis

Fidelis, designed by the Technical and Design department at the Perini Navi Group in collaboration with New Zealander Ron Holland, has a hull and superstructure in aluminium with displacement at full load of 545 tonnes and displacement of 497 grt. Her ketch sail plan, designed by the Mast Division at Perini Navi, measures about 1,500 square meters. Her main and mizzen masts are both aluminium and are respectively 58.37 and 47.97meters high, while the boom is in carbon and has internal furlers. The yacht’s layout has particularly ample outdoor living spaces and has both rear and forward cockpits that offer guests many ways to enjoy these open spaces in relaxation and comfort. Yacht Fidelis’ interiors, entirely designed by Perini Navi’s in-house designers, have a refined and contemporary style where simple and clean lines are combined with precious materials such as stained walnut, wenge, parchment, maple, teak, marble and leather.

Motor Yacht Galileo G

Galileo G is the name of the 55m Picchiotti Ice Class yacht from the Vitruvius® series launched the past 10th of July and the second of three motor yachts sold as of today by the Perini Navi Group in collaboration with Vitruvius Ltd and Philippe Briand. Designed for maximum efficiency to allow for autonomous navigation, Galileo G superyacht was built and designed according to Ice Class regulations for ABS Ice Class IB guidelines so that this yacht can reach the Arctic along the Northwest Passage, the sea route that connects the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans via the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The hull is in reinforced steel that is thicker than is the norm and has a protective ice belt in the scantlings all along the waterline especially in the bow, centre and stern purpose built to resist collision with ice. On top of structural reinforcements and propulsion requirements that will give it the strength and power to navigate through ice, this yacht has been designed and planned to have the machinery and systems that allow it to obtain ‘Winterization,’ a denomination that is obligatory for all vessels that can operate safely and for long periods of time in areas that characterised by very low temperatures. The yacht has a telescopic retractable ice detection system that transmits 3D images to a monitor in the control room to spot submerged and semi-submerged obstacles when they are still over 1km away. Galileo G yacht also has 3 tenders: a 9.5 mt Hurricane Zodiac with a reinforced aluminium hull; a 6.3mt tender; a 4.2mt rescue tender; two Lasers and four kayaks.

Sailing Yacht P2

P2 charter yacht is the first yacht in the 38m series designed by the French designer Philippe Briand. Launched in 2008, SY P2’s hull is made from Sealium, an aluminium alloy that provides great mechanical strength and is both lightweight and corrosion resistant. When in regatta mode P2 dislocates 138 tonnes of which 29 are positioned in her bayonet keel that ends in a torpedo bulb. Her draught goes from 5.50m to just 3.50 m to allow her access to both small harbours and shallow bays. To improve her upwind angle P2 superyacht has 7 tonnes of movable seawater ballast.

The yacht carries a 50m Hybrid Modulus carbon fibre mast and a Park Avenue boom in the same material. Hybrid Modulus carbon fibre is made by combining Standard Modulus carbon fibre with High Modulus carbon fibre, a combination which increases the resistance while reducing the weight of the final product. The upwind sail plan measures about 734 m. She also has PBO rigging and titanium turnbuckles that weigh just 310 kg total. In keeping with the Perini tradition, the 38m line has refined and comfortable interiors. The interior design, done entirely by Perini Navi’s Interior Design Department, was inspired by the lightness of the hull and has the simple yet refined furnishings suited to a performance cruiser.

Sailing Yacht Antara

Charter Yacht Antara is a 45m ketch that was launched in 1991. Thanks to a complete refit done at the Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio during the Winter of 2006 and the Spring o 2007, Antara superyacht today has the highest quality standards available in yachting today.

Overmarine premiere at the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show 2011

September 12, 2011

Overmarine Group, the Italian Maxi Open Yacht Builder, celebrated their premiere at the 2011 Cannes Boat Show held last week. Last year, they have decided to change their market approach and after being represented by an exclusive dealer for many years, Overmarine Group have chosen to market their ‘jewels’ – Mangusta Yachts – directly.

Mangusta brand has always stood for excellence in luxury and peak performances, setting new standards in the marine industry, becoming widely recognized as the benchmark in design and manufacturing of fast Maxi-Open Yachts combining speed and technology.

Founded in 1985 by the Balducci Family, the group remained a family owned business, to this day. Operating from Viareggio in Italy and specialising in semi-custom built yachts, Overmarine offers a range of 7 Maxi-Open motor yachts from 72’ to 165’. Additionally, their range also includes a full-displacement motor yacht of 148’ – Mangusta 148’ Oceano tri-deck as well as a current project for a new Open Mega Yacht – Mangusta 205’. Mangusta 165 superyacht is the largest built Maxi-Open yacht in the world, to date.

Although for many years Overmarine Group has essentially been a boat builder committed to the development of the best quality available in the market, its future is now to get an active role in the direct promotion on the market of its range through a selected number of offices and partners in strategic areas.

Although Overmarine Group were best known as a yacht building company, committed to delivering the best quality yachts available on the market; their future now includes an active role in direct promotion of the Overmarine range, through selected number of offices and partners located in strategic areas.

New strategic steps have been undertaken by the group:

•          A new communication strategy with a brand new advertising campaign, new communication tools including a new website have been created

•          Thanks to Overmarine’s established financial and economical stability as well as reliability, a new commercial strategy has been developed with a selection of four strategic partners :

1.         Marine Max for United States

2.         La Mar Aqua for Turkey

3.         Burevestnik for Russia

4.         Infinite Yachts for France

Even though the current market situation, Overmarine Group, in nautical year 2010/2011, has delivered 7 yachts including the motor yacht Mangusta 165 as well as the  Mangusta 130 superyacht.

•          An integral part of Overmarine Group’s new strategy is that they are also developing the industrial side of the business with a special focus on new premises in Pisa that will shortly allow them to enter a new market segment: i.e. the custom built yachts in steel and/or aluminium. The new plants built in the new boating territory in Pisa cover an area of 20,000 sq. meters of  which 9,000 are covered, with a height of 20 meters, that will enable to built yachts over 60 m.  The shipyard will open at the beginning of next year.  In the meantime the 205’ yacht project will be finalised in order to start production once the premises are available.

•          At the same time the Mangusta range has been revisited. Although maintaining the typical Mangusta timeless design, new technical and aesthetic improvements have been introduced. The first new yachts will be ready to be launched at the next boat show: Mangusta 72 at the Genoa Boat Show and Mangusta 92 at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. In regard to bigger boats Overmarine Group announces today the new Mangusta 110. The Mangusta 110 is a brand new yacht. She will not replace the Mangusta 108 that remains in the Mangusta range. Mangusta 108 is an Icon of Mangusta with her timeless classic design that has conquered numerous customers and still does.
