Veritais, specialists in design and product consultancy on entertainment systems to owners and builders of luxury yachts, announced a significant change in the market for state-of-the-art entertainment systems, as seen by the company over the past year.

“It’s been driven by the relentless pace in technological advancement,” comments Veritais MD David Milner. “The arrival of 3D, in the cinemas at least, has made many people re‐evaluate the
entertainment systems that they already have in their boats as well as their homes, and then think hard about what they want in the future.”

Awareness of what is available has also risen as consumers have looked at what’s on the market and learnt about the versatility that is now possible. Interest in multi‐room (or rather ‘multi‐zone’ when on board a boat) systems is on the rise as owners appreciate the value of being able to cater for different age groups and tastes simultaneously, and the ability to share information with navigation networks is seen as a safety benefit as well as allowing owners and guests to monitor position and performance data from their cabins or staterooms.

“Recent developments in technology have also helped with installation issues,” adds Milner.

“Yards can now fit the same system to serve both external and interior locations, and as systems become more compact and energy efficient components can be concealed in head liners and lockers. Using central servers to store music and movie libraries also saves space and ensures that everyone has access to a wide range of tracks and titles to suit their tastes.

“The market has been challenging over the past year,” concludes Milner, “but the rapid advances in high‐definition streaming, iPod integration and now 3D over the last twelve months have given the sector a substantial boost as owners see real benefits in upgrading their systems. We look forward with optimism to 2011.”
