Veritais has launched its new comprehensive, bespoke entertainment content service that updates automatically via VSAT, V-Box. With V-Box crew will no longer have to pass hours choosing and loading music tracks and movies on to the yacht’s central media server. Just opposite, a V‐Box content package is chosen and delivered pre‐loaded on the V‐Box server, which then automatically updates with new releases and prereleased movies, keeping the yacht fully‐up‐to‐date and the guests entertained with the very latest in music, movies and news.

V‐Box represents a new product class for super and luxury yachts. Media content services devised for commercial shipping are available but are substantially more expensive and often less flexible. Veritais has instead developed a system in response to the input received from its customers, and the result is a service that meets their needs using technology that can already be found on board their vessels and with a pricing structure that is highly adaptable.

V‐Box offers three content streams: music (Vtunes), movies and TV shows (Vplay) and the latest news, sport, culture, and finance (Vnews). These can be selected individually or as a group. Within each stream the owner can then select from a wide range of genres to create the content package that precisely suits the tastes of himself and his guests. So if he likes Jazz and Latin music, western and musical movies, or just news, then he can have exactly that. Or more diversity if he prefers, of course.

Content provision is managed by a leading media company that ensures that all licensing issues are taken care of and that the latest content is often available to V‐Box subscribers before it is released to the wider retail market. Full system support will be provided by Veritais engineers.

Installation is incredible straightforward, with the V‐Box server integrating easily with any networked entertainment system and with up to 4TB (only required for V‐Play) of storage it can hold up to three weeks of (non‐repeating) music and hundreds of movies centrally for streaming around the yacht. VNews is customised with the vessel’s name visible at the top of each page and can be viewed over a wireless network using iPhones or iPads, in a choice of 8 languages.

The VSAT uploads are designed to take advantage of the satellite link at times when it is not being used for priority communications. The data is automatically trickle‐fed to the server (starting early 2012 for V‐Play) which then updates its content and makes it available to the network. It couldn’t be simpler.

The innovative technological platform underlying V‐Box enables subscriptions to start at under $1,000 per month (plus initial installation costs), and the result is a service that will deliver many hours of pleasure to owners and their families and guests.

Veritais new entertainment content service V-Box will on display on the stand 02.204 at METS.
