The Discovery 50 Catamaran enjoyed an enthusiastic reception at the first boat show exclusively for Multihulls, The Atlantic Multihull Boat Show, which was held in Lorient, Southern Brittany.

As one of the few boats on display not built in France, the Discovery 50 Cat was welcomed by the organisers as giving the show a more international flavour in its first year. The French passion for multihulls ensured the show attracted a high level of genuine enthusiasts and prospective purchasers. The Discovery sales team was delighted at the level of response which was even greater than the yachts successful first showing at the London Boat Show. It confirmed France as a positive market for Discovery’s Catamaran design and high standards of build quality.

Immediately after the show the owners of the sailing yacht, John and Caroline Charnley, set sail for Northern Spain across the Bay of Biscay on the first of many legs they will sail during their first years voyage, which will take them across the Atlantic to the US East Coast. The yacht is due to be seen at the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis.

In the past, catamarans have been designed principally for the charter market – practical but not luxurious. With the Discovery 50 Cat, you have a sumptuous home afloat. You can specify cabin configurations and semi-customise the interior throughout.

The owner’s stateroom, with its super-king size bed, spans the full width of the boat and has ‘his’ and ‘hers’ bathrooms. The talents of interior designer, Ken Freivokh are very apparent in the light and airy saloon with its harmonious styling and luxury feel. Deep, restful armchairs and a large dining sofa provide comfortable places to relax.

The navigation station faces forward with great visibility all round. Out of the elements, you can sit here in real comfort and control the boat while maintaining a good watch.

Discovery Yachts has built an enviable reputation for constructing some of the most sought after ocean cruising yachts. Now we have added to the range this state-of-the-art, Bill Dixon designed catamaran for luxury blue-water cruising on the level.
