Hoek Design based in The Netherlands also joins the Superyacht Cup this year and will be celebrating their own 25th Anniversary. An incredible 7 superyachts of the 17 yachts currently entered in the regatta are from the Hoek drawing board, including the 55m sailing yacht Marie, built by Vitters Shipyard in Holland,  launched in 2010.

The Superyacht Cup provides an ideal environment for sponsors of the event to promote their brands, and enables them to spend valuable networking time with superyacht owners and industry colleagues in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Diego Colon, Managing Director of Palma based Astilleros de Mallorca, Spain a long-term supporter of the event, says about the value of his company’s involvement: “We have sponsored the Superyacht Cup for over 10 years and have watched the event grow to become the huge success it is today. Our partnership has created many new business opportunities for our shipyard, as well as showing owners the fantastic sailing that we have here in the Balearic Islands.”

The Superyacht Cup was founded in 1996 and is continuously growing in popularity with owners and guests who enjoy the fabulous sailing conditions Palma has to offer, as well as the informal atmosphere of the regatta and its famous dockside parties.

In 2009, the event moved to the centrally-located ‘Muelle Viejo’ (“Old Dock”) opposite Palma’s grand cathedral, which is the ideal location for the yachts and the dockside race village. This charming and historic part of the marina is right in the middle of Palma’s old town, with all its vibrant bars and restaurants, and just 10 minutes from the airport.
