The initial sea trials of the Couach Hornet 1300 superyacht tender have confirmed all expectations. The highly innovative Hornet 1300 boat has reached an exceptional maximum speed of over 50 knots,  mixed up with navigation stability usually found only on units devoted to military activities or civil protection. The world premiere launch of the Hornet 1300 will be held at the Cannes Boat Show, running from September 10 – 15, 2013.

Ultra high performance and safety
Yann Huort is the official pilot for the Couach shipyard. All new models, both civilian and military, are put into his hands for uncompromising test runs in all weather conditions. The Hornet 1300 yacht tender was no exception to the rule and the results live up to all the expectations of those who helped create it.

Verbatim: “For me, the HORNET is an excellent exercise for the shipyard. It’s a boat I know well because it conserves the behaviour and qualities of its “older brother”, the Plascoa 1300 FIC interceptor craft. After spending many hours testing these military interceptor craft in the worst possible navigation conditions, I can safely say that with the same carbon hull and identical mechanics, the shipyard has built an indestructible pleasure boat that can comfortably carry its passengers at high speeds with unrivalled safety levels on today’s market.”

As quoted, the Hornet 1300 yacht tender’s hull is made from the same composite materials (fibreglass, aramids and carbon fibre) as found on the 1300 FIC; calibrated to meet the demands in terms of light weight, performance and shock resistance requirements for intensive use 10 to 12 hours a day, 365 days a year.

There is always an aura of mystery and emotion surrounding the launch of a new yacht in its element. This was definitely the case a few days ago off the coast of Gujan- Mestras.

From day-cruiser to VIP transport: a wide variety of uses
Officially approved for 12 passengers, the Hornet 1300 yacht tender is equipped with 7 bolster seats (stand-up seats used for offshore racing) and everything required for a great day out on the ocean. But imagination can run to a number of other sailing ventures.

Let’s listen to Yann Huort again: “This boat is obviously ideal for individuals wanting to take the helm of an exceptional day-cruiser, entirely customisable as always with Couach boats. I can think of other uses where it would excel, for example transporting VIPs and their luggage across to the Mediterranean, or even the Caribbean where travelling between islands is frequent and sailing conditions sometimes difficult. It would also be ideal as a tender, towed behind a yacht or loaded onto a megayacht.“
