After a great luxury yacht charter season in the Mediterranean, superyacht Windfall – the second hull of the highly successful Southern Wind 94 miniseries – is preparing for her first Transatlantic racing experience, led by a brand new, enthusiastic crew.

Chartered for the occasion by a passionate Russian sailor, Igor Katalevskiy with his High Spirit Sailing Team from Russia, luxury yacht Windfall will carry this group of friends and sailors through the thrilling experience of their first Oceanic adventure.

In preparation for this event, the team undertook an intense six-month training program designed for them by the brand new Southern Wind Sailing Academy in collaboration with the VMB RYA Training Centre.

For some of the participants, this is more than just a race as it represents final step in the achievement of their Yachtmaster Ocean Certification.

Windfall yacht’s Captain, Tim Goodbody, who is originally from Dublin and represented Ireland in the Finn Class at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, has successfully raced in mono-design classes all over the world, becoming a well-known figure on the Maxi Racing circuit. In relation to this edition of the RORC on superyacht Windfall, Goodbody commented: “We will have 19 crew in total, which includes some top Italian sailors such as the legendary America’s Cup and Admiral’s Cup sailor, Lorenzo Mazza. The charter guests are a group of Russian sailors who recently competed and finished a very tough Rolex Middle Sea Race. They are great fun and keen to learn as a number of them are taking their Yachtmaster Ocean examination during the race. They are very much in control of the boat and we are there to give them a hand if they need us. It is a great combination.”

SW 94 yacht Windfall has been chartered within the context of Racing In Comfort formula, a special service offered by Pegaso, Southern Wind’s Marketing Representative. Through this formula clients can experience the thrill of high performance sailing aboard elegant semi-custom yachts by taking part in some of the most exclusive super yacht regattas with highly qualified crew, top chefs and discreet stewards.

Designed by Reichel Pugh and Nauta Design and launched in early 2013, Windfall superyacht is a performance cruiser of 28m. Her light displacement, aggressive lines and luxurious yet highly functional interiors, make the yacht one of the most emblematic semi-custom racing yachts built by the Southern Wind Shipyard.

Prior to the imminent departure of her first Transatlantic race, super yacht Windfall has been chartered for the last two editions of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Porto Cervo, as well as for the 2013 edition of the Maxi Rolex Cup, revealing her racing oriented spirit.
