Southern Wind sailing yacht GELLICEAUX delivers outstanding performance, innovative design and advanced technology and represents a new generation of smart custom yachts. At 32.77 m (107’6”) she has naval architecture by Farr Yacht Design with exterior and interior penned by Nauta Design.

Southern Wind CEO Marco Alberti proudly explains: “GELLICEAUX is the first unit of the new SW108 model which perfectly embraces the SW concept of Smart Custom. But being the first of a new series she is in reality very close to being a full custom boat!”.
SW108#01 is the first model conceived and engineered from the outset as a diesel-electric hybrid with an internal structure to suit the hybrid drive layout and is characterised by a deck design specifically created to meet the owners’ detailed brief.

The new deck layout is fresh but immediately recognizable with a coachroof that allows lots of light to flow into the yacht through a central skylight and side windows. She is sporty and low slung with a spacious guest cockpit connected to the interior by a large companionway incorporating hatches to let natural air flow into the cabins below. Her transom/beach club and garage solutions allow the guests to have a direct connection with the sea. By opening the aft portion of the deck together with the transom door, the swim platform doubles its surface area, to a total of about 10 sqm while the garage is designed to fit a 5.05 m diesel jet tender.

The interior features a 4-cabin arrangement with the owner’s cabin placed forward in the quietest area of the yacht and three additional guest cabins amidship, centred around the spacious and split-level main saloon. There is an eight-person dining table to port and a modular sofa which extends along the starboard side to combine with the TV lounge, thus creating a generous communal living space. The styling of the interior enhances the layout giving a sense of warmth and elegance.

The owners are passionate sailors and plan to undergo long passages accompanied by their teenage children so needed a spacious living area. At her launch they commented, “we had particularly big ambitions for the design and quality of the interior and Nauta developed a completely new design for us that is light and airy and will showcase the workmanship that Southern Wind is capable of creating.”
