Princess Yachts, who are also sponsoring the St Luke’s 2012 Gala Ball, produced the collection pot using the same composite materials and techniques use to produce the hulls and decks of the company’s high-performance motor yachts. The shape of the collection pot was created using a state-of-the-art computer controlled machining (CNC) tool, normally used to create the plug moulds for Princess’ range of luxury yachts, whilst the distinctive St Luke’s orange colour finish and logos were achieved with thanks to the kind donations by Scott Bader and Signs Express (Plymouth).

St Luke’s provides palliative care for patients from across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall. The pot was dedicated to longstanding Princess Yachts employee Bob Watson who received care at St Luke’s before his recent passing.

Chris Gates, Managing Director at Princess Yachts International, said, “Bob Watson was a much loved member of the team and we were all very saddened by his passing, but we are grateful for the care he received at St Luke’s. As one of the largest employers in the region it is important for us to give back to the community with continual investment, not only in the business and our employees but though supporting vital local services such as St Luke’s.”

In order to continue their vital work St Luke’s need to raise more than £4.5million every year from the local community. The collection pot is set to appear at various fundraising events and activities throughout the year.
