The recently celebrated 30th anniversary of St. Luke’s Hospice Plymouth has been marked by a donation of £30,000, provided by the prestigious UK luxury yacht builder, Princess Yachts.

In order to continue their vital work St Luke’s, who provide palliative care for patients from across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall, need to raise more than £4.5million every year from the local community.
Chris Gates, Managing Director at Princess Yachts International, said, “The support and care offered at St. Luke’s has been invaluable for a number of our employees and their families over the years so we are delighted to be able to mark their 30th anniversary with a donation of £30,000. It is a charity close to the hearts of so many people in our organisation and so fitting that we can show our appeciation of the wondeful work they do in our community”.
The pledge is part of Princess’ ongoing support of the charity and was made as part of the 2012 Princess Yachts Family Fun Day fundraising efforts where St. Luke’s also benefited from additional funds raised by employees, their families, suppliers and local organisations alongside Jeremiah’s Journey, The Primrose Foundation and The Woodside Animal Welfare Trust.
Earlier this year the mould shop at Princess Yachts produced a spectacular 6 foot tall collection pot for the charity which has appeared at a number of fund raising events over the year. Eugene Van Jaarsveldt, Director of Human Resources at Princess Yachts, presented the cheque at the St. Luke’s Hospice 30th Anniversary Ball which was also sponsored by the Company.
