Feadship superyacht BROADWATER (ex.RASSELAS) has entered the Huisfit facilities in the Netherlands for a refit following her sale to a new Owner in late 2018. The owner of the motor yacht is being represented by Peter Willson of MCM and the vessel is due for completion in 2020.

Built in 1994, her exterior styling was done by Frits de Voogt and the interiors from John Munford. The luxury yacht has been a popular choice on the charter market in the past in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. The Owner also owns the second BROADWATER luxury yacht from Feadship, measuring a shorter 50.4m/165ft, built in 2000, refitted in 2017 and currently available on the charter market.

The refit will update the 52m/170.6ft vessel, turning her into a ‘modern and livable home away from home’ and a desirable choice for charters with the latest technology installed on board. Once the work is done, she will meet the latest regulations for commercial use and have a comprehensive redesign of exterior and interior spaces, including technical upgrades.

For the exterior, there will be an extension of the hull by 4m/13ft and a reshaping of the transom to increase the aft deck and beach club area. The sundeck will receive a new larger hot tub, plus new additions of a bar and day head. A new composite mast, hardtop and antenna are being made by Rondal, sister company to Royal Huisman, with integrated lighting and audio speakers. The teak decking is also being replaced, and the hull and superstructure will receive a blue and white repaint.

Inside, Adam Voorhees has restyled the interior for a more contemporary appearance that uses European brushed oak, fumed eucalyptus and open grain black walnut accompanied by patinated bronze and textured Serpeggiante and Portoro stone. Cashmere, silk, wool, linen and leather varieties have been selected to match the colour palette of each room and create a sense of harmony. The layout of the main deck Master suite has also been altered to create a his-and-hers bathroom separated by a large glass shower.

In terms of technical specifications and health & safety regulations, luxury yacht BROADWATER has stood up to the test of time despite being 25 years old and created before the Large Yacht Code existed. A new Water Mist fire-fighting system has been installed and upgrades have been made to fire boundaries. A new transom will also host an emergency power generator capable of powering the Water Mist system.
