The Newport Charter Yacht Show (NCYS) has been acquired by the Newport Harbor Corporation (NHC), continuing a tradition of showcasing luxury charter yachts ranging from 24m (80 feet) in length up to the superyacht size of 45m (150ft) to the megayacht size of 68m (225+ feet).  Charter yachts from around the world will cruise into the spotlight at the Newport Yachting Center and elsewhere on the Newport Harbor waterfront from June 18-22, 2012.

NHC is the parent company of Newport Exhibition Group, which produces and manages multiple industry events, including the Newport International Boat Show, held at the Newport Yachting Center each year.

“This will be the third consecutive year that the Newport Charter Yacht Show will be held at the Newport Yachting Center but the first time it will be apart of the NHC family,” said Tom DeLotto, director of Newport Exhibition Group, adding that the five-day show has been in existence for 30 years and is one of only a handful of significant charter yacht shows held around the world.

“The Newport Charter Yacht Show has a solid foundation and will synergize perfectly with our company’s expertise in the yachting industry. Our 2012 show will pivot around a world-class display of luxury yachts available for charter as well as the services and amenities available to support yachts and their crews.”

The in-water vessels on display will represent primarily the Charter Yacht Industry, and an array of on-land exhibitors will add to the ambience and offer value for the captains, crews and potential charter guests. Forums and seminars also will be staged for attendees and include highly qualified industry experts speaking on subjects specific to the Charter Yacht Industry, with an emphasis on new products and technology.

“I am looking forward to having the 2012 Newport Charter Yacht Show planned by a professional organization that has experience with maximizing the potential of the show,” said Jan Henry, president of the American Yacht CharterAssociation and a charter broker with Fraser Yachts Florida, Inc.  “Marketing to the necessary industry players such as charter brokers, captains, owners and management companies will get the best showing of charter yachts and will entice the top charter brokers in the world to attend.”

Henry also noted that the 2012 Newport Charter Yacht Show will be staged while the world is focusing on Newport as the venue for the last installment of the America’s Cup World Series 2012 (June 23 through July 1).  According to DeLotto, the America’s Cup event as well as other special events slated for Newport next summer will bring new faces and energy to the already well-established show.

With a large sheltered harbor within Narragansett Bay, Newport serves as a prime destination for cruising, sailing and racing in the summer months and is highly accessible to multiple neighboring cities along the Eastern Seaboard, including New York, N.Y. and Boston, Mass.
