Lantic Entertainment Systems, the world-renowned company specializing in integrated AV / IT systems for superyachts, has completed an innovative and cost-effective reconditioning of the Lantic system, first installed on the 46m Palmer Johnson motor yacht Clifford II in late 2008. The revitalised system brings a completely new experience for the owner as well as his guests, once again proving the achievements of Lantic’s far-reaching development programme over the past few years.

Designed to bring the system up to the latest specification while creating the minimum disruption possible for the yacht, the reconditioning process has been devised in such a way that all the original hardware casings have been reused, after being fitted out with new components. This completely avoids the need to make changes to the interior joinery or fittings.

With the new system installed, the owners can now enjoy the simplicity and versatility of Lantic’s version 2.7 software suite; a quantum leap from the 2008 version thanks to increased processing power and advances in computer graphics. Recent new features include two-way iPad/iPhone streaming, third generation cabin controls with central command, HD streaming hardware and the RC20 remote control app for Apple devices.

Less visible but equally important are the many hardware improvements that include fully refitted client servers, the replacement of the original, single server with three separate servers complete with additional redundancy and shock-proofing, and the exchange of DVD for Blu-ray drives.

The whole refitting process has been exceptionally quick. Following extensive pre-delivery preparation at Lantic’s facility in Denmark, the entire rebuilding of the hardware took just two weeks, including many hours of testing before the system left the factory. This also involved the careful removing of all the original content on the old server, converting it to updated formats, and uploading it to the new media server.

On delivery back to superyacht Clifford II the system was rapidly re-installed by the boat’s own electrical engineers, while a Lantic technician was on hand to perform final tuning and provide training to the crew. The owner is reported to be very pleased with his new system.

“This is a highly cost-effective and time-efficient route for owners of older Lantic systems who wish to take advantage of the dramatic advances that have been made in recent years,” said Lantic’s Peter Bouman. “Lantic is all about solutions that are quick, clean and convenient, and this extends to the service that we provide to all our clients.”
