After only a year on the race circuit, the majestic Holland Jachtbouw-built J-Class yacht Rainbow unveiled her true colours at this year’s Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, taking place in the fabulous Italian yacht charter location – Sardinia‘s Porto Cervo at the beginning of September.

In the unusually light winds, conditions which make luxury yacht Velsheda hard to beat, superyacht Rainbow placed second to them in races 1 & 2, with charter yacht Ranger coming in close behind but stepped up a gear in races 3 & 4, beating Velsheda and Ranger by 14 seconds in race 3 and a spectacular 4 minutes in race 4!

It was all down to the final race with the crew of Rainbow yacht (which includes 4 of the HJB team) narrowly losing to Velsheda which, despite finishing on equal points meant a second place finish on countback.

The Rainbow team will certainly be a force to be reckoned with next season when there will hopefully be 5 J’s on the start line once again.
