The not-for-profit organisation International SeaKeepers Society is raising awareness of global ocean issues and is currently raising funds to expand its programmes in 2020. To this end, a generous donor will match every dollar raised up to $10,000 USD before the 31st of December 2019.
With the conclusion of the year, SeaKeepers has provided funding for 15 scientist-led expeditions, 20 citizen science trips, 16 educational outreach events and 27 community engagement events organised between youth organisations and school groups in the United States and Singapore.
The research and educational outreach programmes have influenced over 100,000 students and more than 1,000 pounds of rubbish have been collected from the world’s ocean annually. The not-for-profit brings together 467 volunteers for a local cause and provides marine scientists with the chance to raise awareness of global ocean issues as well as advance the marine sciences.
