CJR Propulsion this week cemented its position as the market leader for high performance propulsion and sterngear packages for superyachts, with another set of high profile wins at Amsterdam’s METS exhibition.

This year’s show was CJR’s most successful yet, and saw the propulsion and sterngear specialist pick up orders for complete packages from several prominent yards around the globe. Three superyacht projects were secured during the event, including a 125 footer currently being built in the Middle East and two other high profile new superyachts, measuring 32 and 35 metres. All will feature propellers from CJR’s Australian partner, VEEM, with sterngear production and CFD engineering handled through CJR’s Southampton facilities.

CJR’s managing director, Mark Russell commented: “METS is always a good show for us and this year was no exception. We managed to agree three new major superyacht projects at the exhibition, with several more still in the planning stages. At the smaller end of the scale things are even busier and our CFD analysis programme is proving to be a big attraction for designers, yards and owners alike.

“We’re seeing a definite ripple affect across the production and semi production markets. Clients are hearing about the very real performance advantages we are offering our customers and the difference investing in precision engineering can have. We agreed two new pilot boats at the show and they came directly from the work we did with Holyhead Marine, where our propulsion and sterngear package managed to increase performance by two knots!”

With significant growth on 2009, new approvals from several marine bodies and awards for its business practices, METS tops off a bumper year for CJR and VEEM. And, with further product developments in the pipeline, the team is hoping 2011 will be even better.
