The prospects for boot Düsseldorf 2011 are bright. The mood in the international watersports industry has perked up noticeably after a difficult 2009. The upward trend is reflected by lively demand for exhibition space. “Confidence has returned to the sector. As the central European show venue for boating and water sports, boot Düsseldorf is benefiting from this to a large degree. The available hall capacity is very well booked. All the signs are that our visitors can expect a versatile range of products and services that leaves nothing to be desired,” says a gratified Matthias Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf.

From 22 to 30 January 2011 and in 17 halls, over 1,550 exhibitors from 50 countries will be presenting everything conceivable for fun and recreation on, by and under the water: small boats, large yachts, diving, surfing and angling equipment, boat equipment and the finest destinations for the next watersports holiday.

Boot is in good shape in its core segment. 1,700 boats and yachts for every taste and every pocket will be going ashore in Düsseldorf in 2011. Distributed among eleven exhibition halls will be an array of boat types of all sizes, from canoes to large yachts. Sailing boats and sailing yachts are on course for growth. Demand for up to 20-metre sports boats and motor yachts has stabilised markedly. Some exhibitors have even booked more space this time than the year before. The sectors for equipment and accessories, diving, marine services, water tourism and chartering have developed very favourably.

The German Marine Industry Association (BVWW), Cologne, anticipates turnover of EUR 1.726 thousand million for 2010, taking all market segments into account. This is 4.7 per cent up over 2009. Jürgen Tracht, BVWW Managing Director, expects the economic upturn to continue in 2011. “The international marine industry has shifted into gear. Encouraging signals are coming from the German market. Private consumption is showing a strong upward surge and is being bolstered by the positive economic outlook and heartening reports from the labour market. The industry is therefore viewing boot 2011 with great confidence”.
