The international award-winning Kata Rocks Resort & Residences will host the Rendezvous for the second year. With stunning sunset views over the Andaman as this unique fleet anchors in the beautiful Kata Bay, it’s no wonder this is the most impressive annual gathering of Superyachts in Asia.

Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards, the event’s principle sponsor for the 14th year, is currently receiving plaudits around the world, after superyacht Como was presented at the Monaco Yacht Show. The sleek 46m automotive-inspired superyacht, powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines offering 1417kW at 2300rpm, was commissioned by former New Zealand racing driver, Neville Crichton.

Motor yacht Como’s striking design cues feature a ‘whaleback sheer’ that curves up towards the bow. Caroline White of Boat International also noted in her review that Feadship had produced the largest hull windows in its history.

Asia Superyacht Rendezvous is pleased to announce that sailing yacht Escapade has also confirmed she will be joining the fleet. The 37.5m all-aluminum sloop also boasts many innovative characteristics, and like M/Y Como is also a Dubois Naval Architects collaboration.

The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous’ team is very happy to be part of her “act of adventure”, and it will be fascinating to see her performance in the racing, particularly against Thai-based 36m S/Y Yanneke Too, skippered by Captain Charlie Dwyer and S/Y Schooner Sunshine, joining the event from Myanmar (Burma).

This year’s Rendezvous will officially begin with the welcoming cocktail party aboard the iconic charter yacht Silolona, a beautiful 50-meter Phinisi sailing yacht that offers amazing experiential journeys throughout many parts of Southeast Asia.

Race Officer and Phuket’s PIMEX Boat Show Director Andy Dowden will have a rather unique platform to oversee this year’s racing, with the 50m charter yacht Northern Sun offering her services as “Start Boat”. Northern Sun, has a potential range of 25,000 nautical miles, Captain Chris Lawrence pointed out during a recent visit, was originally launched in 1976 by the Japanese National Fisheries Institute. Those first crewmen would hardly recognize her following a comprehensive refit in 2007, completed to an incredible standard.

Kata Rocks has also made an addition to this the 14th Asia Superyacht Rendezvous’ schedule, by offering to host two private dinners for VIP guests, before the ever-popular “Feadship Challenge” gets into full swing during the second evening’s fun and festivities.

The final day will see these “beauties of the seas” again put through their paces, before joining in a fleet parade.

The 14th Asia Superyacht Rendezvous will head into the final evening’s entertainment with an exclusive “VIP Gala Dinner” accompanied by entertainment. The night will draw to a close in traditional Thai style and celebration, with guests having a chance to make a wish whilst lighting lanterns and setting them off into the star-filled sky.
