The Arie de Boom Marine director, Roxanne de Boom, has become a new member of the board of SNBR (Société Nautique et Balnéaire de La Rague), the public body charged with overseeing the long-term maintenance as well as strategic development of Port de La Rague. This represents one of the most enchanting full-service yacht harbours in the popular French yacht charter destination – Cote d’Azur.

Port de La Rague is the Cote d’Azur home of Arie de Boom, which also manages prime site marinas in The Netherlands and other service locations, as well its substantial new-boat sales and brokerage operations. Indeed, via its wholly owned subsidiary SEPR, Arie de Boom is responsible for the overall management of Port de La Rague that caters for everything from small ‘30-something’ all the way up to 130ft superyachts.

Lying just five miles to the southwest of Cannes, Port de La Rague is a very special yacht haven, one with real character, developed from a natural harbour and tucked out of the way beneath a striking rail-bridge landmark. It ranks as a medium-size Cote d’Azur marina, but, thanks to SNBR and Arie de Boom’s 35-year involvement, has over the years acquired all the essential attributes ‒ mini-market, snack-bar, bistros and boutiques, not to mention a diving school – and all just a short walk away from glorious private and public beaches.

Arie de Boom Marine is a real family business. Longstanding chairman Alex de Boom represents the third generation to run the family business, but, with his daughter Roxanne now a key member of the management team, the company is clearly on track for the fourth generation. Before an early management career in the retail fashion industry, where she worked with brands such as Scapa and Burberry, Roxanne de Boon studied cultural economics at Erasmus University, her father’s old university.

Before joining the family business properly, her first professional foray into the marine industry was when she helped her father establish the European office for yacht stabiliser manufacturer Wesmar.

“I am very proud to be working alongside my daughter,” says Alex de Boom, and so pleased our company is as rock solid today as it was before the financial crisis. Our business has grown through hard work and constant re-investment without debt. Roxanne’s professionalism in everything she does will help ensure that we as a business continue to go from strength to strength and that, via her SNBR input, Port de La Rague will do too.”

Roxanne de Boom is equally effusive of her day-to-day role within Arie de Boom and in being able to help steer Port de La Rague’s future course. “I have a huge respect for what my family has achieved and am thrilled to now play my part,” says Roxanne de Boom… “And I am truly honoured to have been invited to join the SNBR board and help deliver what we hope will be another step change as regards capacity and capabilities at Port de La Rague.”
