Damen Yachts has announced the sale of a 55.5m/182ft yacht support vessel currently known as YS 5009, which is currently under construction and due for delivery in summer 2019.

The shipyard worked with the Owner’s representatives to further customise the YS 5009 model, which has six models to date including yacht support vessels POWER PLAY, SHADOW and AXIS. This seventh hull will have a layout providing owner and guest accommodation, additional staff accommodation, generous storage areas for supplies and water toys and top quality guest facilities while remaining under 500 Gross Tonnage.

Constructed with a steel semi-displacement hull and aluminium superstructure, the latest YS 5009 will be fitted with a 12-tonne deck crane to launch submersibles and other sizeable water toys up to 15m/49ft in length.

Damen’s patented Sea Axe bow form allows the support vessel to reach a maximum speed of 20 knots even in rough seas and a range of 5,000 nautical miles.
The shipyard is also constructing a 45.6m/150ft YS 4508 support vessel due for delivery in 2019, while an eighth YS 5009 will be delivered in 2020.
