5 Sailing yachts finalist for Dubois at the 2011 World Superyacht Awards

Dubois Naval Architects are very pleased to announce that they have an incredible 5 sailing yachts that are finalists in the 2011 World Superyacht Awards, presented by Boat International Media. The Dubois designed yachts named as finalists include Sailing yacht Kokomo, S/Y Zefira, yacht Twizzle in the Best Sailing Yacht 40m+ Category and in the Best Sailing Yacht 30m – 44.9m category, Lady B, Yacht Imagine.

The winners are to be announced on the 7th of May at an Awards Ceremony held at the Guildhall, London, UK.

Now into its sixth year, the World Superyacht Awards honour the finest new superyacht builds delivered to their owners in the past twelve months.

Three of the seven finalists in the 45m+ category are Dubois designs, and they take a further two places of the six finalists in the 30m to 44.9m size range.

Sailing yacht Kokomo – 58.4m
Finalist category: Best sailing yacht 45m+

This is the second awards gala to feature sailing yacht KOKOMO. The first were the ISA awards of 2010 in which she won best sailing yacht 40m+

This striking sloop was built by Alloy Yachts New Zealand with interior styling by Redman Whiteley Dixon

She is the third yachts Dubois designed for this owner, each one more advanced and larger than the last.

The latest KOKOMO sailing yacht has something special – Her lifting keel. At 58.4m length over all, KOKOMO’s keel weighs 130 tonnes and can be raised and lowered through 3.3m allowing her access to all major harbours and marinas but also giving her unique performance. The stability afforded by this arrangement and her powerful sloop rig takes this yacht into a new league.

S/Y Zefira 49.7m
Finalist Category Best sailing yacht 45m+

Yacht Zefira makes her awards debut this May at the World Superyacht awards.

Sailing yacht Zefira is the seventh Dubois design to be built by Fitzroy Yachts New Zealand. With interior styling by Remi Tessier, S/Y Zefira signifies a new and appealing development, both above and below decks.

The 49,7m fast cruising sloop was delivered to her owners in July 2010 and is the largest Dubois Naval Architects has designed without a flybridge.

She is of aluminium construction with a bulb keel and a maximum beam of 9.95m

Zefira’s lines, silhouette and technical performance are something to be admired.

Twizzle 57.5m
Finalist category: Best Sailing yacht 45m+

Yacht Twizzle is the first Dubois designed sailing superyacht to be built at the Royal Huisman shipyard and at 57.5m, she is the largest Dubois designed ketch built to date.

The quality of her design and construction and the beauty of her interior styling make this yacht very special.

Sailing yacht Twizzle is the very successful result of the owner’s vision for a good performance, high tech and modern sailing yacht with all the comfort of a motor yacht. The owners have been central to this talented team, brining their own ideas and significant experience to the process, adding challenge and momentum.

Lady B 44/7m
Finalist Category: Best sailing yacht 30m – 44.9m

This 44.7m sloop was beautifully built by Vitters Shipyard.

Sailing yacht Lady B is one of the most sophisticated and well finished yachts of her size in the World today and will stand out as being a craft of exceptional quality, beauty and performance.

Dubois developed the interior layout and the interior designers, Rhoades Young, have made a beautiful job of styling the interior and attending to the many details.

Direct access to the owner’s stateroom from the aft deck is an interesting feature and is not only convenient but gives a wonderful light to this important area of the yacht.

The result is a striking vessel both externally and within.

Imagine 43.5m
Finalist category: Best sailing yacht 30n-44.9m

The new sailing yacht Imagine is something of a landmark yacht for Dubois Naval Architects.

She bears the names of one of our favourites, launched in early 1993. Both were built by Alloy Yachts in New Zealand: The first imagine at 33. 6m was our third design constructed by that yard and the new Imagine, somewhat larger at 44.3m, is the 21st!!

Yacht Imagine is sleek, fast, ultimately seaworthy and demonstrates Dubois’ philosophy which is to combine comfort, speed and beauty within a thoroughly seaworthy construction capable of sailing any Ocean in the World.
