Vinyl finishing otherwise known as yacht wrapping has always had the obvious advantages over paint. Foils and films often last longer against UV, offer a consistent one layer of product,  are less toxic due to not containing the VOC’s which enable the paint to last longer and achieve textures such as carbon, leathers and woods to name a few; but now with the new films, they are not only more durable than before but rival paint on gloss finish too.

Greg Hoar, Director of Wild Group comments: “Previous to the launch of Färben, we have had to say ‘if you want high gloss you have to paint it, but the Extreme Gloss series in particular has a higher gloss and DOI reading than the paint equivalent so we can now offer a superior finish which is great for our customers.”

“…We are delighted to be the first approved fitters of the Färben foils and films. It’s fantastic that these new films are coming to the market. They have been specified on most of the range at the Sunseeker factory, where they can be seen at the London Boat show and Färben have also supplied us with a colour matched battleship grey for MY Aviva which is currently undergoing a full hull wrap to it’s 68m hull in Rybovich, Miami this month.  This is an extremely exciting project for us and the largest yacht that will have received a full vinyl foil finish too.”

Färben, unlike other foils and films have a clear coating on the top surface making them tougher, while offering greatly increased gloss, durability and scratch resistance.  They have been designed specifically for the marine environment, with the 100 micron thickness (normal films are 50-70m) offering excellent resistence to weathering and chemical attack.
