2nd Westport Cup to be attended by superyachts Altair, Eleonora, Mariette and Mariquita

Four glorious big class vessels will grace the squadron start line for the second running of the Westward Cup, taking place from June 11 to 16, 2012, including the 39.5m sailing yacht Altair, the 41.5m charter yacht Eleonora E (ex Eleonora), the 42m superyacht Mariette and the 38m Mariquita superyacht. Also invited, but as yet unconfirmed, are the 46m sailing yacht Lulworth and the 32m luxury yacht Moonbeam IV.

Fog and humidity kicks off the second half of the Rolex New York Yacht Club Race Week

The Rolex presented NYYC Race Week in Newport, England begun with fog, humidity and light wind. As the morning progressed at 11 am the wind reported by the NYYC Race Committee was at 6-8 knots, which stayed at the same level for the rest of the day.

Known as the longest running regatta in America, the New York Yacht Club’s 156th Annual Regatta presented by Rolex also has the distinction of kicking off the sailing season in New England. This past weekend, June 11-13, over 1,000 sailors on 111 boats gathered from across the U.S. and Europe for three days of racing on Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound.
