Mike Wallace, a Member of Parliament for Burlington and Chair of the Canadian government’s marine caucus, introduced a Motion to recognize the important role recreational boating and the role the boating industry plays in the lives and health of Canada’s six million boaters. The motion was introduced at the Canadian economy in the House of Commons in Ottawa, Canada Earlier this week. Motion 541 is expected to be debated in the House of Commons sometime over the next year.

“NMMA Canada and the entire boating community applaud Mike Wallace for his work and commitment to the recreational boating industry in Canada,” said NMMA Canada vice president, Sara Anghel.  “Boating is big business in Canada and contributes a great deal to our nation’s economy as well as to the quality of life of Canadians. The motion affirms our government’s commitment to recreational boating and recognizes boating’s vital impact throughout Canada now and for future generations.”

The Motion states: That, in the opinion of the House, the government should recognize the vital role the recreational boating industry plays in Canada and its contribution of over $25 billion to the economy and the lives of over 6 million Canadian recreational boaters, their families and friends.
