The 2009 Palma regatta.

The 15th Annual Superyacht Cup Palma 2010 will run from June 23 to 26 and will be held in the centre of Palma at Muelle Viejo. The 2009 event was a tremendous success which saw eighteen superyachts taking part in the regatta, over 500 participants sailing over the three days and over 1,000 industry representatives, owners, guests and crew attending the evening social events. This year, twenty five megayachts are expected to enrol and at this stage 14 of the entries are already in with 11 entry spots to go.     

The 2010 four day event will open with a Welcome Cocktail Party, followed by 3 days of racing and finish with an impressive Prize Giving Evening at Es Baluard Museum with live music and dancing. Throughout the event, after the daily racing, various themed parties will be held for the guests and crew, held in the grand canopé structure within the Regatta Village adjacent to the yachts. A ‘Yacht Hop’ which was a popular new element for 2009 will also be held this year, where Owners and Invited Guests have the option to view the fleet of superyachts and entertain their ‘neighbours’ on the quayside. The crew party will be held on the same night.    

The Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe. It is a unique event that combines exhilarating racing and impressive parties. The atmosphere of the racing and social functions is relaxed and friendly.
The Superyacht Racing Protocol rules used in this year’s Superyacht Cup Palma were developed by Jim Teeters, who is known for his work with bucket ratings. The rules created some very close races to the finish at the Superyacht Cup Antigua in January 2010 and are expected to produce a  similar exciting finish to the June 2010 event in Palma.
