Burger Boat Company is proud to announce that Superyacht SYCARA_IV has been awarded the Judges’ Special Award at the 2010 World Superyachts Awards gala held at London’s Guildhall Saturday May 22, 2010. Motor yacht SYCARA IV measures 46 m (151 ft) and is fantail-style that looks as if she stepped straight out of the early 20th century.

The 151 ft megayacht  Sycara IV was designed by Bruce King and has intricate period-oriented features aboard such as a trail board hand-carved by Burger’s craftsmen. M/Y SYCARA IV’s interior design by Ken Freivokh and Burger’s in-house team also reflects the 1920s. Her interior features white-painted panels combined with madrona burl panelling  accented by ebony inlays and paduak molding  which is a red-tone African wood prized for its toughness and carving ability. There is also teak and sycamore flooring balanced by white carpeting in some areas. French doors, Lalique crystal, and other accents throughout further add to the appeal.

At the World Superyachts Awards 2010, there were more than 500 of the superyacht industry’s leading professionals, superyacht owners, and their personal guests from all over the world, honoring the best of the best in superyacht build and design.

The Judges’ Special Award for SYCARA_IV recognizes the detailed manner in which her builder, Burger Boat Company, and her designer, Ken Freivokh faithfully created the owner’s vision of a classic motor yacht from the 1920s to remarkably high standards of design, construction and engineering, without the necessities of modern life impacting on her true-to-period atmosphere. The judges considered the result to be a vessel of the highest quality.

Recapturing the splendour, grace and charm of a bygone era SYCARA IV represents Burger’s continued commitment to designing and building custom yachts to meet their owner’s specific requirements and desires.  Styled after the classic yachts of the 1920’s, SYCARA IV brings together an impressive collaboration of “high profile” experts.  These include her owners, with their extensive yachting experience and yacht building knowledge; Steven Narkawicz, their highly experienced and talented project manager; Bruce King, with his classic schooner bow and fantail; Ken Freivokh, who designed her interior spaces and exterior detailing; and Burger’s team of designers, engineers and craftspeople.
