There have been a number of superyachts launched during May 2010. Here are the biggest and best yachts CharterWorld have featured throughout the month.

The 60 metre Motor Yacht MARY JEAN II launched by ISA Yachts

Perfectly as scheduled, on a rainy morning in mid-May ISA launched the elegant motor yacht Mary-Jean II.

This motor yacht Mary Jean II, designed and built by ISA, 60 metre long with a beam of 12 metres, has been launched at the presence of the owners, Yachting Partners International, who have project managed the construction on the owner’s behalf, the interior designer, Mark Berryman and some of Ancona’s main authorities in addition to ISA’s top management, employees, workers, families and friends.

2010 ISA megayacht Mary Jean II

The 60 metre motor yacht Mary Jean II painted in Aristo hull and Oyster white is simply stunning, a masterpiece of elegance and style, both on the exterior and on the interior design. This beautiful displacement motor yacht utilizes the latest technology, design and Italian craftsmanship. She boasts very elegant lines with an impressive stern. Like any ISA project, the new 60 – metre motor yacht Mary Jean II stands out for its perfect harmony between stretched lines and extremely spacious and comfortable internal areas.

The interior of the superyacht Mary-Jean II, designed by Mark Berryman, has a clean cut contemporary appearance with teak flooring and bulkhead panels acting as a backdrop. Other tactile materials such as the split bamboo panelling and rustic limestone mosaics invite guests to touch and explore different areas onboard the boat. MB finds it important to get the guests/users of an interior space, thinking about their surroundings.

Although the interior has modern, contemporary overtones, there is a feeling of classical elements in certain areas onboard of Mary Jean II, as the boat will be ideally suited to charter market, as she boasts six guest cabins with a relaxed comfortable interior.

The teak backdrop throughout the Mary-Jean II yacht has been punctuated with the introduction of a contrasting wengé wood. Most fabrics are quite neutral in appearance and then accented by more vibrant colours introduced by the Owner’s artwork and complimentary coloured scatter cushions. MB always feels that using and approach like this will help the interior to appeal to a wide variety of tastes (essential for the charter market). It may not be to everyone’s liking, but it does not offend.

With steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the new ISA 600 motoryacht Mary Jean II is built up on 5 decks. Thanks to 2 Caterpillar 3512 C DITA-SCAC diesel engines , this gem of a mega yacht has a max speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots.

The yacht will be delivered to her Owners in early July and will be exhibited at the imminent edition of the Monaco Yacht Show.

For more information about Mary-Jean II please, contact us at CharterWorld, other wise follow our News section as we will keep you updated about her progress.

First Ferretti CUSTOM LINE 124 Superyacht Launched in Ancona Italy

On a sunny, late spring morning Italian yard Custom Line, a member of the Ferretti Yachts Group, launched the first yacht in their 124’ Custom Line yacht model using the travel-lift system at the Ferretti Group facility in Ancona.

The 37.8m Custom Line 124 superyacht is the new flagship of the Custom Line planning luxury motor yacht fleet. According to the yard the moment that a bottle was broken over the bow keel of the hull, was particularly thrilling, as it symbolised the realisation of the engineering and design work, artisan production and painstaking care the shipyard took over every single detail of this model.

“We are very proud of our ‘new arrival’ and particularly excited about today, which marks the beginning of renewed, further growth for Custom Line”, commented Marco Segato, Custom Line Brand Manager. “A further two units of the 124’ have already been sold, and are currently being built at the Ancona facility, confirming the market’s positive response to this new model, which we will be presenting, as a world première, at the upcoming Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes

The Ferretti Custom Line 124’ motor yacht was designed by architect Gianni Zuccon from Studio Zuccon International Project, who dealt with both the internal and external layouts, working in association with the AYT, Advanced Yacht Technology, Ferretti Group’s naval research and design centre. The new launch features a deep blue hull with a white superstructure, with spacious areas inside and out, well-distributed between the main, lower, upper and sun decks of the yacht.

The exterior of the yacht features soaring, light, elegant lines, due to the installation of an extensive glazed surface in order to naturally light the interior. The upper deck is split between the helm station and lounge/dining area, set in a raised position in order to allow total onboard privacy. The model also features large outdoor areas, and the cockpit has a teak table for 10 to 12 guests. Owners can personalise the area by replacing the table with a lounge area, complete with sofas.

Her upper deck features a second open air luncheon area, where a spa pool and sundeck can be installed. The bow lounge area, complete with semi-circular sofa, is a true lounge over the sea, to which a number of sun pads have been added for sun lovers. Also for the interior of the superyacht, within the interior of the yacht, Studio Zuccon International Project incorporated spacious areas, including a salon measuring over 50 square metres, the master suite and, on the lower bridge, four large guest cabins.

In all, Ferretti Custom Line 124’ yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests, plus 6 crew members. The yacht can reach a top speed of 27 knots (preliminary data) with the largest MTU engine, 3510hp, and offers the comfort guaranteed by the Mitsubishi Anti Rolling Gyro system, which reduces rolling by over 50%. The extensive range of personalised solutions that the yard is able to offer makes it possible to alter the use of some of the areas, according to the owner’s requests. For example, a fitness area can be installed in place of one of the cabins, or a chrome therapy system in the heads, for a cruise centred on well being.

34 m Superyacht NILAYA launched by Baltic Yachts

The 34 metre super sailing yacht Nilaya has been launched by Baltic Yachts in Finland. On the third of May Finnish yard Baltic Yachts launched the 34.14m sailing yacht Nilaya from their Jakobstad facility. The result of a collaboration between Baltic Yachts, Nauta Yacht Design and Reichel Pugh Yacht Design, the Baltic 112 sailing yacht Nilaya is a superyacht that can deliver high sailing performance for her size with all the pedigree of a stripped-out racer. According to Baltic: “When high performance is high on the priorities, carbon fibre pre-preg composite construction is the obvious way to go.”

Nauta Yacht Design was responsible for the general arrangement a and yacht design lines of luxury yacht Nilaya whilst her naval architecture is the work of Reichel Pugh Yacht Design – the two design houses already have a strong collaboration, having worked together historically on the design of high performance cruiser racers. Yacht Nilaya was the inaugural collaboration between Baltic Yachts and Nauta Yacht Design.

On the partnership, Baltic’s Managing Director Kenneth Nyfelt and Nauta’s CEO issued the statement, ” It has been a real pleasure working together during the three year build period. Also influential in the build process was Nigel Ingram of Marine Construction Management who worked closely on the project management of Nilaya.”

With a displacement of just 90T, Nilaya incorporates a lifting keel which is capable of reducing her maximum draft to 3.5metres from 5.5metres, allowing her to enjoy shallower moorings and cruising grounds.

In addition to this sailing yacht Nilaya offers internal space equal to that of yachts of a higher LOA; featuring a deck house with all-round view, a large owner’s cabin and four large guest cabins. Crew are housed within three cabins in addition to the Captain’s double cabin and she boasts a spacious galley. Much attention has been paid to detail, resulting in a simple, synthetic yet timeless style across all aspects of the yacht. Following her completion she will be exhibited at the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show in September.

There are a handful of Baltic sailing yachts currently available for charter.

The Baltic Yachts superyachts under construction at the Baltic Yachts yard currently include the 66.8m ketch Panamax due 2011, the 51m Baltic 170 sloop, due 2014, and another Baltic 112, due 2011. Here is a link to the Baltic Yachts launched to date.

Superyacht LIVIA  Launched by Moonen Yachts

Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands has launched yacht LIVIA, the third yacht in its impressive line of 30-metre steel-hulled displacement cruisers. Superyacht Livia is a new Moonen 97 motor yacht which is distinguished from other 97s by a truly original ‘New England/American Beach House’ interior from Art-Line and much else besides.

Moonen 97 Superyacht LIVIA

Motor yacht Livia was styled by René van der Velden, who has created a sleek low-profile exterior with an elegant flared bow, a sloping stern with twin stairways, a graceful sheer line and bold fashion plates. The round-bilged hull from the boards of Diana Yacht Design ensures exceptional comfort at sea, while the economical shaping combines with tankage for some 28,000 litres of fuel to give Livia an impressive transatlantic range.

Yacht owners and guests enjoy the most peaceful of cruises thanks to a comprehensive sound and vibration attenuation programme. In addition to deploying the finest noise-absorbing insulation, Moonen has eliminated vibration at source by giving the yacht’s highly skewed propeller 50 percent more clearance between the blade tip and hull surface.

Superyacht Livia is also exceptionally comfortable at anchor thanks to the installation of advanced Naiad zero-speed stabilizers. Moonen is known for its impeccable engineering and construction, and this Lloyd’s Registered and MCA approved yacht once again proves why.

One of the highlights of luxury yacht Livia’s aluminium superstructure is the efficient flying bridge, part of a clear policy to maximize the pleasures of alfresco living onboard this yacht. The interior offers spacious accommodations for the owners and six guests. The master stateroom boasts a walk-in closet of unusually generous proportions. There is also a delightful VIP stateroom plus two guest suites, all with their own bathrooms.

The Moonen 97 motor yacht is an evolutionary design based on two prior Moonen yachts: The semi-series Moonen 84 and the custom-built Moonen 96 Clementine. The first two Moonen 97s were Darsea and Sofia II, while a fourth model is set for delivery beginning 2011.
