Sunsail is delighted to announce a partnership with The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust for the summer 2011 sailing season. Sunsail will provide the Trust with up to three of their brand new Sunsail F40’s for their yacht trips, which take young people in recovery from Cancer and Leukaemia sailing.

In 2011 Sunsail are introducing a brand new identically matched fleet of 42 Sunsail F40’s to their UK base, Port Solent on the south coast of England. Built by Beneteau, the F40 is a highly adaptable performance yacht and provides the perfect platform for both cruising and racing in UK waters. The boats are ideally suited to the Trust’s needs, and the reduced charter fee provided by Sunsail makes them the perfect choice for the Trust.

“Sunsail are proud to be working with The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and to be able to help the Trust enrich the lives of young people, who have been through so much. Not only is good to be able to give something back, but it is a real pleasure to be able to introduce young people into a sport that we at Sunsail are so passionate about”, said Cheryl Powell, Chief Operating Officer.

Frank Fletcher from the Trust added, “We are delighted to be working with Sunsail Racing and their support will enable us to work with more young people in recovery from Cancer and Leukaemia”

The children are initially invited to take part in a four-day sailing trip on Yachts in the Solent, which are run throughout the summer holidays. They are all about having fun; barbeques, rib rides and lots of water fights!  This enables the young people to work together as a team and to take part in the duties on board the boats.

More about the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust

Dame Ellen MacArthur launched the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust in 2003 after she spent some time with a similar organisation in France. The Trust is a nationwide organisation, which aims to rebuild confidence in young people who have suffered from Cancer and Leukaemia through sailing. They work with every primary treatment centre in the UK and take young people aged between 8-24 sailing on our yacht trips.
