Chinese superyacht builder Sunbird Yachts won the contract to build the new 30m superyacht Dream Cat which will be the biggest catamaran built in China. The contract for the new build luxury 30m Dream Cat sailing yacht was closed at this month’s Hainan Rendezvous.

“The owner wants dynamic styling inside and out to cruise and sport fish the South China Sea.  Size matters over here and our customers are now asking for vessels of 50m-60m,” Charles Luo, Vice President of Sunbird Yachts noted.

The Dream Cat 30 sailing yacht will feature metallic paint and twin 715hp Cummins engines for a 21kt top speed and a 1,000nm range.

Sunbird Yachts now has orders for six yachts from 15m-30m and are thriving within the fast growing China luxury yacht market with a competitive advantage over foreign builders. The Chinese government requires that all imported boats pay a 43%  luxury tax and restricts their navigation areas.
