Sea-Alliance Group, the international maritime business, has included  a new quality control service to its portfolio. This service is intended for international shipyards, as an answer to increasing request for independent project managers for new build and refit work.

Sea-Alliance Group New Management Service for Shipyards

The new service will be provided by the company’s experienced technical services team, and will give shipyard directors an independent quality control management service to help them improve their organisation and communication with a yacht owner’s team.

There are numerous advantages of the new service:

•  Shipyards will incur fewer costly changes as a result of the improved project management and a reduction in errors
•  The build stays on schedule
•  There is less warranty work to be fulfilled
•  As an independent company, well-connected within the industry, Sea-Alliance Group is also able to suggest contractors and suppliers, and to advise on the latest technologies and methods of construction, as a result of extensive experience gained from working on many different yacht builds in locations around the world.

As shipyards around the world increasingly use subcontractors to complete a project, the benefits of an independent project manager/surveyor, overlooking all aspects of the work and managing these, has become more apparent.

Pino di Mora, Technical Services Manger at Sea-Alliance Group, said: “Traditionally we have always worked as representatives of the clients but recently we started to get good feedback from the yards where we have managed projects, and yard representatives have begun to realise the benefit of a comprehensive project management service. We help the yards by supervising and controlling the subcontractors, and representatives of many shipyards have been very enthusiastic about the concept of us working directly for them.”

Highlighting the benefits of the service, Pino continued: “We can offer them fresh perspective on the new builds and refits and assist them greatly with their quality control, which saves time and money.”

Sea-Alliance Group is believed to be one of the only companies offering such a comprehensive project management service for the industry. As a company which can offer an independent perspective and report directly to the Yard’s Director, there is a distinct advantage to using them – a small customer-focussed team –  rather than an in-house project manager.
