This month has seen the world-renowned designer Ron Holland join his mega yacht M5 (ex Mirabella V) in the UK‘s Falmouth for successful sea trials off the Cornwall coast. After weeks of watching weather reports, the sea conditions on Friday, January 17, provided a great opportunity to put sailing yacht M5 through her paces. Ron Holland wanted to see this luxury superyacht perform as he had envisioned when he designed her.
The extensive Refit Program increased the overall length of M5 yacht, and related deck spaces, replaced her original conventional steel rod rigging with lighted carbon textile rigging, a new keel, and rudder updates. These developments are aimed at improved sailing performance, they take advantage of the latest materials not available during her original construction.
Wind speeds of 18 knots to 23 knots gave the opportunity to put the ‘new M5 superyacht’ (ex Mirabella V) through sailing trials in the North Atlantic. Ron Holland was delighted that she performed up to his most optimistic performance predictions.
Besides the completely new interior styling by Redman Whiteley Dixon, interior designers based in the UK, other significant developments included updated engines and generators.
During the Sailing Trials the M5 yacht crew and Pendennis team put this giant sloop through her paces in a variety of wind conditions, for a very successful result.
