Two Halyard employees recently had a less than usual day at work when they made a surprise journey to London to meet the Queen. Jane Turner and Glen Campbell, were invited to Buckingham Palace as part of the company’s celebrations for winning its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Continuous Innovation category earlier this year.

As a qualified ACCA accountant, Jane joined Halyard as the company’s Finance Director, where her extensive knowledge of manufacturing accountancy lead to her developing her role to become Operations Director across all three of Halyard’s manufacturing sites in Portsmouth, Ferndown and Salisbury.

Factory Supervisor, Glen, is Halyard’s second longest serving employee, having been with the company for 19 years. His long service and manufacturing skills have been fundamental in producing the range of products that won Halyard the Queen’s Award.

On the day of the ceremony, Jane and Glen were driven to London by Managing Director, James Grazebrook, where they were presented to the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, before being treated to a celebratory dinner at the prestigious Royal Thames Yacht Club in London.

Since winning its last Queen’s Award in 2006, Halyard has demonstrated its continuous dedication to innovation by developing a number of significant new products to provide strategic solutions for the silencing of larger marine engines and generators. New products include a range of exhaust water separators – creating the world’s lowest cost product covering generators with exhausts from 40mm to 75mm, and the company’s patented watercooled Helmholtz resonator silencer designed in conjunction with the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton.

James Grazebrook said: “I’m very proud that Halyard has received another Queen’s Award, which wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication, hard work and continuous support of the entire Halyard team.”
