Porsche Design RFF135 Luxury Superyacht

The Porsche Design Royal Falcon Fleet Superyacht reaches Europe and the Interior design and technical installation work starts on the luxury catamaran.

Stuttgart/Singapore. The Porsche Design Group (Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG) and the Singapore-based luxury yacht manufacturer Royal Falcon Fleet are accelerating work on building the RFF135 motor yacht. The hull of the over 40 metre long luxury motor catamaran arrived in Sweden at the end of April. The launch of the first motor catamaran designed by Porsche Design is planned for the second quarter of 2011.

After successful completion of the superyacht hull of the first RFF135, the technical installation and interior fitting out begins now. Just like the outer hull, the interior follows the functional, timeless and purist signature of the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See (Austria), which is responsible for its exceptional appearance on the water. Completely new design opportunities arose, especially because of the catamaran platform, both for interior and exterior design. Unlike many other mega-yachts, the interior has a very modern design and reflects the dynamic lines of the hull. The typical Porsche design is unmistakeable: luxurious, functional and without a trace of any ornate opulence. A sleek outline combined with authentic, high quality and comfortable materials give the interior real flair. The generous space exceeds all known benchmarks for a 135 foot (41.2 metres) yacht.

“Once again, we are adding more accents with this project”, said Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “Back in 1987, we designed the motor yacht ‘Kineo’. An exclusive racing boat, of which there are only three examples worldwide and which drew significant attention due to its characteristic dolphin shape. The luxury brand Porsche Design handled projects like this since its foundation. They forge the link between complex, state of the art technology and classic accessories. And they enable us not only to perfect the ‘engineered luxury’ standard, but also to implement the experience gained in a wide range of products. For example, we use the Beta-Titanium material favoured by the space industry in our Porsche Design glasses, to ensure that they are as lightweight, flexible and comfortable to wear as possible.”

Mr M.A. Zaman, President and CEO of Royal Falcon Fleet, said: “The arrival marks an important milestone in realising my dream of introducing a completely new type of megayacht to the market. By bringing together the design flair of Porsche Design, the reliability of Swedish marine construction embodied by Kockums , the proven excellence of MTU engines, the  meticulous attention to detail of Greenline Yacht Interiors, as well as the vision and energy of many other  top-flight specialists and suppliers, I am confident that the first RFF135 will be as spectacular in its looks as it will be as impressive in its performance. Welcome to the arrival of a new world-class brand name.”

“Unlike most 135 foot yachts, the complete hull of the RFF135 is not made of fibreglass, but entirely of aluminium”, said Roland Heiler, Managing Director of Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See. “Inside, you will find materials typical for Porsche Design: brushed stainless steel and aluminium, leather for the seats and wall coverings, together with carbon fibre. The customer has the final say. They can personalise their catamaran in cooperation with us, entirely to their own taste.”

Royal Falcon Fleet commissioned Kockums and Incat Crowther to build the catamaran. Kockums, the Swedish ThyssenKrupp subsidiary, stands for state of the art technology in the field of marine technology. Incat Crowther, a firm of shipbuilding engineers based in Australia, has decades of experience in the construction of large motor catamarans.
