Sue Deacon who has managed the marina, with a staff of seven for 5 years, will continue in the role of Director of Operations, but the new Directors make it very much a family concern: Peter Weir – Chairman/Managing Director, wife Katy – Company Secretary/Director and son Tim as Development Director.

Peter and his son own a Moody sailing yacht together and the family have owned and developed a successful touring caravan park 6 miles north of Oban since 1982: “I purchased my first boat when I was 12 years old and have been keen on boats ever since, as is my son. Whilst running our business doesn’t allow much free time, we hope to join other berth holders and visitors at Kerrera.”

Speaking of the successful business Peter and Katy Weir have built up over the past 29 years: “We have developed the North Ledaig Caravan Park into a Visit Scotland 5* touring caravan park, but which runs as a friendly family-run park which is un-commercialised and whose major assets are its first class facilities, superb beachside locations and its sea views over to Mull.”

“With Oban Marina, we intend to follow similar policies and over the years will develop the marina facilities both on the sea and ashore, whilst maintaining the friendly, customers come first approach and where the Marina’s assets of its safe and secure island location and quiet surroundings can be enhanced,” continues Peter Weir.

Whilst all the Directors will all be actively involved in the running and development of the business, Sue Deacon will be in charge of the day-to-day operation of the Marina with Neil Price remaining as Yard Manager/Right-hand man and all the other employees will be transferring to the new Company.

The Directors plans to visit the marina on a regular basis and will be in frequent contact with the Marina Manager. They will be happy to meet berth holders and visitors to listen to ideas and share their enjoyment of the Marina and its wonderful West Coast location.
