The story began with the Osprey 37 yacht tender, which was named ‘Motorboat of the Year’ soon after its launch in 2006. The line was expanded in 2010 with the practical Osprey 34 yacht tender. New technologies have helped make the Osprey 38 superyacht tender faster, more efficient and around thirty percent quieter than the two earlier models. Its comfortable walk-in and spacious sundeck are unique for this category of luxury motoryachts.

Unrivalled luxury

The interior and cockpit have been given a complete makeover, evolving from the classic, stylish luxury of the Osprey 37 to a more contemporary ambiance with smooth, symmetrical lines that enhance the feeling of spaciousness and freedom. The central dashboard is a skipper’s delight, with a 15-inch LED monitor that is easy to read, even in bright sunshine, and an electric anchor that can be controlled from the steering position. The high-tech cockpit is predominantly finished in leather and matt-black anodised aluminium. The captain’s chair and both seats have been placed on supports specifically designed for the Osprey 38, with adjustable gas pressure springs and dampers ensuring optimal comfort.

Sustainability

In addition to the use of top-quality materials and production methods, yachtbuilding is increasingly focused on sustainability with regard to fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as well as reliability and maintenance. The new Osprey 38 yacht tender is therefore equipped with a complete Mastervolt system linked to integrated Imtech monitoring. These two specialist Wajer & Wajer suppliers have excellent reputations due to the superior reliability of their products and many years of experience in commercial yachtbuilding.

Wajer & Wajer once again selected Volvo engines for the Osprey 38. These offer an excellent weight/kW (hp) ratio, silent operation and low consumption and emission values, in combination with a powerful performance and minimal maintenance.

Performance

The new Wajer Osprey 38 superyacht tender can as an option be fitted with two powerful Volvo D6-DP 435 hp six-cylinder diesels in combination with IPS600 dual pod propulsion. This extremely efficient joystick-controllable propulsion system provides greater ease of operation and more precise steering compared to conventional propeller shaft propulsion, as well as a ten to fifteen percent higher performance and a remarkable top speed of 45 knots (approx. 85 km/h!). Weight savings of over 300 kg have been achieved by the use of new lightweight materials, among other things. The exceptionally strong hull optimises the dynamic sailing characteristics, while the unprecedented course stability and manoeuvrability at high speeds provide a sense of total control.

Customised

No two Osprey 38 yacht tenders will be alike. The options programme from the yard in Heeg (Friesland) provides plenty of practical and interesting choices, such as spraying the hull, deck or cockpit in a favourite unicolour or metallic paint. A rear-view camera can optimise the ease of operation during manoeuvring or waterskiing, while a high-end audio system developed specifically for the Osprey 38 (including three amps, eight speakers and two subwoofers) can offer the same level of audio quality as at home. A gangway integrated within the aft ship is another option. The majority of the first seven Osprey 38 owners chose 40 hp jetsurf boards and diving equipment seamlessly incorporated within the storage space.

Yachting pleasure

The unique cockpit layout of the Osprey 38 yacht tender ensures that the helmsman has perfect lines of sight all round without being isolated from family, friends or guests. The elegant convertible hood provides protection for up to nine people in all conditions. The slender and effective spray rails are dynamically integrated within the hull design. Combined with the flared bow, the cockpit is kept dry without affecting the yacht’s performance.
