Jeff d’Albora, Director of Dalcorp PL and a Director of the Global Marina Institute (GMI) and the Marina Industries Association (MIA) said: “As an experienced owner and investor in marinas I am very pleased that the GMI through its partner the MIA; and in conjunction with KPMG Sydney is conducting this one day Marina Investment Seminar. This is a long overdue initiative both from a national and a global perspective and it will bring together world class specialists in marina investment. The day will provide marina owners, buyers, sellers, lenders and related specialists with a high level interactive forum to better inform major investment decisions in the marina industry.”

The full day program will provide detailed information, analysis and discussion relating to developments in the global and local marina sector and significant issues which influence the marketability and value of marina assets. Topics covered will include trends impacting on marina assets; optimisation of marina operations including revenue and costs; principles which influence the value of marina assets, debt funding and considerations when buying or selling marina assets.

Speakers will include specialists in the fields of finance, transactions, valuations, securitisation and marina management. Matthew McCarron, a Partner within KPMG’s Private Enterprise Practice will play a lead role in the seminar. He has extensive experience leading a variety of transaction advisory engagements involving marina and other recreational assets. Another presenter is UK based Mick Bettesworth who delivers marina consultancy services across the globe. He previously held senior positions within MDL, Europe’s largest owner and operator of marinas.

MIA President Andrew Chapman said delivery of the Marina Investment Seminar is an important milestone for the marina industry. “MIA has a well-established track record of delivering globally accredited marina education and training at operational and management levels in Australia and Asia. This seminar is an important step up to inform owners, investors and public and private sector specialists involved in our industry about assessing and maximizing the value of marina assets.  With GMI support this Seminar will also be delivered in other countries over the next 18 months.”

MIA Executive Officer Colin Bransgrove said the interactive Seminar is limited to 23 participants. “It is expected that the Seminar will book out quickly with interest already expressed from across Australia and Asia.”
