At the start of this year, Lift Emotion received a request from Dunya Yacht  for a delivery of a new glass elevator for their stunning super yacht Red Square. During the meeting between the two companies, Dunya Yachts project manager provided Lift Emotion with the technical information and limitations to install the special square glass elevator inside the Red Square Yacht.

Motor Yacht Red Square’s interior designer, Alberto Pinto projected the design for the Owner stair case incorporating a clear and open glass elevator with parts of mirror polished stainless steel on the outside of the elevator trunk and inside the elevator cabin. The inside of the elevator trunk needed to be made from brushed stainless steel.

The elevator trunk is placed inside a straight staircase with a certain radius at each corner. This radius needed to be incorporated in the elevator trunk and needed to be made from  mirror polished stainless steel. During the design discussions Lift Emotion proposed two special brushed stainless steel pipes as guiding of the cabin,  instead of the standard basic steel T shaped profiles used for ordinary elevator designs. The application of the two, brushed stainless steel pipes made the elevator complete.

Following the design requests, Lift Emotion has to incorporate the drive system within the limited space available under the elevator. The company chose to use some of the available space and placed the cylinder opposite to the elevator entrance.

The interior designer’s request was for the cylinder not be visible when standing inside the cabin, which resulted in using a special telescopic cylinders with 4 synchronized stages a cylinder very uncommon in the elevator world. The cylinder will be powered by a power pack with special electronically controlled valve, ensuring trouble free and absolutely smooth ride.

Using a cylinder with 4 stages meant, that some of these stages needed to be guided to avoid bending of the cylinder under load. The requested radius on the outside of the trunk will be used to incorporate a guiding system.

In general installation of such elevator has significant effect on the engineering.  In order to keep the high quality demand,  Lift Emotion prefers to bring big pre assembled parts of a glass elevator, normally meaning hoisting in a glass elevator in one or two sections. However, with the height limitations above the sundeck at Dunya yachts Lift Emotion will have to make a section per deck,  meaning 4 separate sections.

With the experience of the engineers at Dunya Yachts, the design ideas and skills of Alberto Pinto, the craftsmanship of Lift and Lift Emotion BV’s passion for elevators, the project will be an eyes catching piece of this outstanding super yacht Red Square.

MotorYacht Red Square is a 72 metre vessel currently under construction at Dunya Yachts in Turkey.  She is scheduled to be launched in April 2011.
