Last month was marked by the keel laying ceremony of the Hakvoort motor yacht Project Zeus (yard number 249), which took place at Scheepswerf Made. Once completed, the 63,30-metre mega yacht Project Zeus will represent the yard’s largest superyacht to date.

The unique contemporary profile of superyacht Project Zeus is designed by René van der Velden to some very specific requirements from the owner. A fresh and bold approach to the modern classic look reflects a style called streamlining, which was very popular in the 1930s and 40s.

A streamliner is a vehicle or vessel given a specific shape that reduces air resistance: Examples include the famous ferry Kalakala and the record-breaking car Bluebird. This is the first time streamlining has been so clearly integrated into the design of a superyacht.
