Discovery Yachts, world class builders of blue-water cruising yachts, are taking their joinery to new levels of excellence following their recent investment in a specialist veneer press, saw and veneer finishing equipment.

The new precision equipment enables the company to offer in-house, exceptional quality veneer finishes for their owners as well as a choice of the finest burr inlay for unique and bespoke designed tables, as well as intricate detailing for interior doors and cabinets.

Discovery Yacht’s in-house joinery team boasts a pedigree of high-end, palace-grade skills and is one of the few UK boatbuilders able to offer it’s customers such a choice of interior timber, individual design and bespoke inlay work for their range of blue-water cruising yachts.

The company works with renowned Superyacht Interior Designers to give its customers the highest quality interior design and finish that befits the company’s award winning reputation.

Commenting on the new equipment, Managing Director Nigel Stuart said, “Our investment in this specialist veneer equipment as well as our pool of highly trained craftsmen ensures that we can offer our discerning clients the highest quality in-house joinery together with the opportunity for unique and personal designs to be incorporated into the build of their yachts.”

Numerous features make a Discovery yacht special. But perhaps two features make them unique…with the result that you can operate your boat quite differently from any other.

Firstly it is in the concept of the raised saloon (some call it a deck saloon). Here in a Discovery you can sit and enjoy panoramic vision from the saloon. We understood that if you are going to visit some of the most beautiful places in the world you won’t want to bury yourself down in the hull. On passage, off-watch crew can still see where they are and be part of the voyage – while staying dry and comfortable.

The second hallmark of the whole Discovery range is the raised navigation area. From here you can control the autopilot, with the radar/plotter to hand, and able to keep a good all round lookout. Out of the elements watch keeping is so much less tiring, and it is this, as much as the easy sail handling that truly make these two-handed boats. From here you are also still in touch with the rest of the crew – so much safer and more sociable.
